Holy cow! Obviously I'm a Chisolm advocate, having written about him ad nauseum over the last year. Love the Bahamas connection and his toolbox. I'm concerned about the BA, OBP, etc., but Miami never would have gotten him if he was raking. The little guy is second in HR in the entire Southern League.

That said, Gallen would be absolutely my last choice to trade for him. Gallen pitched better than ANY minor league pitcher this season. He looked great last night. No injuries. I have to wonder what the team/management thought about him personally. Remember the "lol" he tweeted when Yamomoto got the call to the majors ahead of him (and soon deleted)? Not cool.

Time will tell, but I'm amazed and delighted to have Chisholm.

At the end of the day, the Marlins sold high and filled an organizational need. A major need. If Jazz flames out, we got buried but it’s way too early to tell.

In terms of runs created, Chisholm is performing similar to what he did in low A to start 2018. His power and walk rates are also similar between the two.

I think the question is whether this is a sign that Chisholm is the type of player that takes time to adjust to league and is poised to breakout in AA soon, or if those league starts are more indicative of the type of player he really is.


If Chisholm is able to stay at shortstop long term and can be an .800 OPS guy this is a huge win for the team. That's a bit of time away though.

One thing also to keep in mind with Lewin Diaz and Chisholm this year is the Southern League has been just as tough of a pitchers league as the Florida State League this year for whatever reason. I think it provides even more legitimacy to the power #'s those two guys have had this year.

Both are also 21 which is young for the league

I mean I'd imagine it's Caleb Smith but the team should be in no rush to trade him. He's 28, has another full year of team control before he even hits arbitration, and he's already a 2 WAR pitcher this year. They've got a good thing with him.
