Still havent gotten what they are looking for but Caleb,Richards and Sandy are getting calls. Miami is likely gonna go down to wire with them and hope a team gets desperate but Richards is still most likely to be dealt(doubt he is unless offers get better) . Our RP have been really busy with Brice and Romo but have gotten calls on them ALL from Conley to AAA guys. Nick Anderson has a crazy price still

Reason market is so quiet is only like 6 or 7 sellers (Balt/Det/KC/Miami/Toronto/NYM/Seattle)3 or 4 arent even real sellers they only are interested in trading few names and no one wants to make the first move and get too little.
Anyone with 4-5 years of control who is showing longterm potential should have a big price and be moved for minimum 100% on the dollar as there is no reason to move them.

I'm really expecting them to do nothing but move Castro, Romo, Walker, and Granderson for guys who won't be in their top 25 prospects end of the year. Maybe someone like Brice or Richards is moved in a low-key secondary deal. Unless they get a Tucker/Frazier for Caleb or Sandy in a package, it's really not worth it to them.

I really like this depth chart next year for short and especially long term purposes.

Pablo, Caleb, Gallen, Sandy, Urena (I'm keeping him for now); 40 man - Yamamoto, Neidert, Sixto
Anderson, Steckenrider, Brice, Richards, Elisier; 40 man - Brigham, Guzman, Dugger, Holloway, Mejia
    Garcia, Conley, Quintana; 40 man - ___________

They'll have room for likely 1 more arm on the 40 man, and the only other internal one I would debate is Poteet but we'll see what he does last 2 months. Maybe Mejia (https://www.fangraphs.com/statss.asp...725&position=P) is so young they feel no one will grab him so that opens up 2 spots. But he's having a real good year so far so I think they stash him with Holloway.

Just get some lefties for Castro/Walker/Romo and call it a day.

If any team is going to become the next Houston Astros/Chicago Cubs/etc... model it will be them.

Also massive improvement from the Marlins. Obviously a large part of that jump is in pitching. The everyday lineup is still a huge question mark long term. Lewis Brinson not turning out to be valuable immediately is a major negative on the long term future of the team.
they have perfected how to run their team given the constraints of their market. The marlins should be following pretty much every move they make aside from hopefully being able to have a higher payroll when this all comes to fruition. They know the relative value of their players, they dont give a shit if their uninformed fans get pissed when they trade a guy like archer for 2 guys who are better than him but unknown to the common fan, they scout incredibly well, and they draft and attack IFA perfectly. We should be following their moves.

      • As tjfla has said before, mish is reporting that the twins are interested in Romo. A guy i wouldnt mind the marlisn to get in that deal is Misael Urbina. He is currently 17 on the twins top prospect list on mlb.com. He is just 17 and was the number 3 IFA guy on their list last year. Makes sense for both sides, marlins get a really nice long term potential prospect and the twins get immediate bullpen help for a guy who is 4 years off.

I'd be ok with that. Luis Rijo and Kai-Wei Teng two low-A pitchers I'd be ok with acquiring as well. Fill that Low-A with Pitchers so we can just keep drafting Bats come next season.

I think you're aiming way high here for Romo. That kid is basically Osiris/Banfield and if the Marlins were contenders, we'd all laugh in their face for that.

Their catcher Jeffers was upgraded to a FV45. They also have Astudillo who is hurt and another solid catcher prospect (Rortvedt) a year away. Garver is also incredible so they really don't need all of this.

I'd see if you can get Jeffers and Nick Gordon (as they have Arraez and Marwin for 2B next year) in a Richards/Romo package. Throw'em Conley too who cares.

Those are some pretty middle of the pack prospects to get a backend SP in Richards and Romo. They could still trade one of their bigger names for a major SP.

Rijo got to them from NYY. That makes some obvious sense there. Still think he's too good for Romo alone.

            Eveld stinks. Ziegler is Romo.

Eveld didn't stink this time last year.

I think Romo's got a little bit more left in the tank than Ziegler did last year.

              • romo has more value than ziegler. Ziegler was done last year and he wasnt having a particularly good year, and relievers who pitch to contact are not ideal. I like the Rijo guy and if he came from the yankees that would make a ton of sense.

i also dont think eveld stinks. I think they tried to push him and put him at AAA to start the year and looking back that was a mistake. he had only pitched 13 innings total at the AA level last year and had never pitched in AAA before. Since he's gone down to AA he's been really good. he's got a 16/0 K/BB ratio in his last 10 appearances and a whip below 1 in AA. I wouldnt give up on him as he's been pretty dominant every level he's been at prior to starting the year in AAA and he has really really good control just looking at his walk numbers.

                • Eveld has barely cracked top 30 lists in mediocre farm systems. I hope he makes it, but this is at best, comparing him to someone like Brigham or Quijada. I'm just saying, Urbina and Rijo are likely a tier above those guys in "Osiris and Fitterer" land. Those would be amazing deals on paper for Romo.

I do like Minnesota's periphery prospects. It is a good spot to move pitching. They must be so pissed about Nick Anderson.

                  • pablo lopez rehab start with jax sunday great to see him healthy and hopefully he's good to go long term.

id assume he gets 2 rehab starts there before he's back

idk how the twins feel about nick gordon but id take a flier on him for romo and maybe another arm like conley or richards.

                    • Richards demoted to pen. I didn't see that coming during the deadline.

                      Elisier back in the rotation.

                        • cool, neither one of them belong in the rotation long term but elieser didnt look comfortable out of the pen at all. i really want to see what richards does out of the bullpen.

This is an awesome touch for throwback weekend. Sunlife/dolphin/dolphins/joe robbie/ pro player/ landshark/ hardrock was a hellhole but i do miss some of the things from that ballpark like the scoreboard in left.

                              • who the hell is gonna fill out our lineup assuming castro, walker, and granderson will be gone by next week? Cooper at 1st, Diaz at 2nd, and then a horrendous outfield of Ramirez, Puello, and who else? I legit cant even name names who might fill out the roster because i doubt they bring brinson up before september the way he has hit lately.
