I agree, all of these starters who fail should be tried as bulk guys.

They are gonna get a nice package for him just NOT guys like Tucker/Frazier. They are asking for a ML ready bat right now for all SP. Teams are offering packages for Richards and Smith
Less that 50/50 they trade him btw just saying IF they lowered price they could probably trade him. Teams are more into Sandy/CalebLast edited by tjfla; 07-23-2019, 09:04 AM.

Vet FA they sign(always 3-5)
ALL of them are aged right from MLB meaning they could be up. No 21 year olds on the list
So either stick Richards in with the other 25 guys OR trade him and get stuff u can use like bats. I am NOT saying they shouldn't try Richards in pen eventually but what I am saying is I would see if they could trade him for other stuff first and if they can do it they should. I wouldnt trade Richards for some crap but if someone offers u stuff u have alot of other pen options
- - - - - - - - - -
Its the same with Caleb Smith-they arent trading him for the offers they got so far but Tucker/Frazier would have them changing mind fast. They want bats bad
Hector Noesi has gotten some calls as well. Could see him dealtLast edited by tjfla; 07-23-2019, 10:14 AM.

Most of those guys on that list are terrible.
Another thing that bothers me is everyone on here when discussing the problems guys like Guzman & Holloway have, specifically their control, everyone immediately says, well they'll be moved to the bullpen and be fine. How does moving a guy to the bullpen fix control issues?

Guzman actually isn't as wild as before,if u watch him it looks like he runs out of steam sometimes when he pitches
What u want them to be All Stars? They are all younger guys/cheap and controllable

Its like this guy Miami just signed
https://www.nkytribune.com/2019/07/f...m-this-season/
26 yr old who throws 99 and has walked 0. Why did they sign him? Because he throws 99 and has some control of it. Pen arms need 2 pitches-FB and ?-throw hard for an inning and go homeLast edited by tjfla; 07-23-2019, 10:26 AM.

id also be cool with bringing romo back in the offseason after trading him at the deadline. He's a good reliever, can work in many roles, wont get much money, and seems like a genuinely good clubhouse guy to have around and he's been on lots of winning teams.

He is the guy who you trade in the offseason as a SP rather than bring him out of the pen assuming he gets healthy. He has a decent track record as a back end starter and actually could get you a decent ML ready bat.
Caleb
Sandy
Pablo
Yamamoto
Gallen
Elieser
Quijada
Jarlin
Steck
Anderson
?(Brice,FA,Rule 5,Minor Leaguer)
Tayron
Urena
AAA Neidert,Sixto,Dugger,Poteet(ALL have to be on 40 man),Cabrera,Guzman
Dugger is LR guy and Poteet is maybe #5 SP type but more likely trade baitLast edited by tjfla; 07-23-2019, 10:36 AM.

You can also add Sandy if they do a RP conversion next summer if guys like Sixto/Neidert beat him out and Caleb, Pablo, and Gallen are mainstays, etc.
If they keep Urena, he should start to help with inning quantity as the other guys are still young.

That's actually a fine projectable bullpen. There is some real upside there.

And as all of this is said, the starting pitching is on a steep downward spiral. Richards, I imagine, has done everything he can to earn a demotion. Alcantara's July numbers are especially brutal. Yamamoto's fortuitous start appears to have been just that. Gallen is walking a batter an inning. And Smith is barely a shadow of his April self. The next couple years could be long ones.

We always knew Yamamoto was a 6th SP, and Richards a 5th/pen arm.
Smith is fine. It's a SSS but he was hurt and has a 3.71 era and 1.24 whip in July. Jesus.
And Sandy has had a rough few starts. This is your only legitimate grip. It's his first full season. 30 more starts and let's panic, and then he probably becomes a good reliever and cool if that happens?
Pablo, Caleb, Gallen, Sandy, and Richards/Urena/Yamamoto is a good young rotation, and Sixto and Neidert are coming June 2020 more than likely, with some of Cabrera, Garret, Rogers, Stewart, Dugger, etc. June 2021.
The next couple of years aren't going to be a problem because of this absent injuries. They are getting some arms out of this.
