I saw his FIP before yesterdays game and it seemed in line with what i saw, but last night from what i saw it seemed like he really struggled so i dont know why his fip would be low for last night?

i still think he will be fine and a solid #3 guy. his stuff is unquestionable and he's gotta improve the control as he gets older.
You guys are more expert than I am so I'll just trust what you say. Thank you for treating me respectfully instead of insulting and belittling me.
I would have picked up a few bats in trades but in reality something like this could happen in 2020
#4-Bryson Stott SS in AA or Hi A
#35-College SP(Stinson/Stewart) in Hi A
#46-Rece Hinds 3B in Lo A
Rd 3-BBA(Best College Bat Available like they did with Pompey LY)
Rd 4-Will Holland 2B in Hi A
Rd 5-College Arm they like
Sign a Yo Sanchez for 2.5 Million and put him at SS in AA move Dunand to 3B
Then in 2020 Draft
#1 Overall Pick-Spencer Torkelson 1B/RF end year in High A
3 other picks in Top 100
From what I heard is they plan on something like this right now(could change) but long as they get "talent" in the system they really aren't worried yet. They want up the middle guys however like LY
But ya bats are easier to find and move fast than arms especially with TJ now
I guess, just seems like they would have picked up better bats than just Walker
THis year is like a balance. They wanted to get bats/players they could trade and get prospects BUT didn't wanna get bats/players that were too good because #1 they didn't wanna spend tons of cash(harder to trade) and #2 they want a Top 3 Pick. 2019 is pretty much find guys for 2020 who can stick and trade guys for young players
Like the Magic in the NBA-were crap for 4 years but instead of just tank and get a Top 3 Pick they had decent players and kept getting #4-6. Marlins want a Top 3 Pick in 2020 and 2021 want between 3-10 they expect to be somewhat good in 2021 when all the young talent is up and have spent cash in FA
I think andrew vaughn is the perfect pick at #4. he's not versatile in the field but the bat is exactly what we need at a position we have nothing at. plus he's a fast moving college bat.

He is!! The problem is Andrew Vaughn is Perfect AL 1B/DH and 1-3 are ALL AL teams. Unless something happens he will be gone by #4. Stott,Lodolo,1 of Witt or Abrams will be there at #4.
I would pass on Lodolo and get a SP in 1S or 2. 2020 Top 3 Right now is Torkelson(1B/RF),Emerson Hancock(SP),3 other SP
According to the mlb.com scouting report they think vaughn can stay at first and mentioned he pitched his freshman year. Id love a powerful college infield bat that can move quick through the system. vaughn would be perfect if hes there
I don't mind about the W-L record, but what bothers me it's the approach. Too agressive at the plate, striking out a ton and never walking. No line drive hits/balls in the air but a bunch of ground balls.
In addition to that we've been playing sloppy defense and the shift has been kiling us. Instead of Anderson, Brinson, Dean taking a step foward they are regressing. Same thing with Walker and Castro.

3 hitters performances that matter
1. Anderson - Disappointing start, could turn it around. We need him as an .800 OPS type guy.
2. Brinson - I'm about to give up hope.
3. Alfaro - Encouraging start to the season. Obviously probably not going to keep up the high average, but I'm liking his power potential to make up for that.
Dean I think he projects as a 4th OF'er-pinch hitter type. Both him and Riddle have an opportunity to raise their stock this year, though to possibly slot in as an everyday player. Riddle failed in his early run, Dean we'll see. Need to see more power.

Anderson - I think he's going to turn around. Too much pressure on him so I'll give him some time
Brinson - He was showing improvements, but then started to chase everything. They literally throw a bunch of offspeed pitches and he can't hit the fastball
Alfaro - Same. To be honest Wallach has being doing kinda good too.
Dean - I would still like to see more from him. He had a great approach on game one and they got super agressive chasing balls
About Castro, Walker, Prado - I want them to produce something so we can trade them.

I agree with pretty much everything here. Brinson i need to see something soon or want to see them send him down or im gonna give up hope. he just can not consistently have good ab's.
Anderson had a terrible start but he picked it up. He'll be fine. Hoping to see some more power out of him this year.
Alfaro has been encouraging and we need a few more pure power bats in the lineup badly. Its the biggest hole in the system.
@StantonSMASH
Brinson has a .171 xwOBA on breaking balls so far this season (102 pitches) . He's also seen just 113 fastballs, too, so teams know this.
Hey we won a game. Smith is our best pitcher right now. I had 0 confidence in our ability to either pitch 3 scoreless innings with a 1 run lead or add to our lead. Good job by the back end of the bullpen. We definitely missed an opportunity to sell on steckenrider and conley. Dont see them fetching much of anything significant at this point.

Anderson has a .292 BABIP. He should be above that a few ticks so I'd chalk this up to a SSS and he's probably a pretty safe floor .260/.340/.400+ hitter moving forward. With his defense, that's an easy 2+ WAR starter at 3B with room to grow with slugging. I'm not concerned with him.
Alfaro is following up his .406 BABIP 2018 with an insane .462 BABIP 2019. I mean at some point we just give him he's a high BABIP player, but he's not going to be the greatest of all-time. Projections have him a .235/.285/.365 moving forward, with excellent defense. That's probably a solid non-spectacular starter given how bad catchers are in baseball right now. But, his career line is .273/.328/.427. I'm thinking we can split the difference there and a .250/.305/.400 catcher may be a reasonable expectation. That's basically a better Zunino, who was a 2.1 WAR player last year. I'm cautiously optimistic here he is improving and going to exceed the projection systems and do that and be another solid, unspectacular, 2+ WR player moving forward.
Brinson stinks. He is playing better defense this year though, so if he can figure out how to hit .240, he might be a good platoon/4th OF option. I didn't think we could live in a world where we will have to debate they may have done a worse trade than Cabrera. But here we are. Go Diaz.

Sweet just checked and Diaz is hitting .180/.293/.320, although that's 59 PA SS with a .189 BABIP and a real solid 11.9% walk rate, and a big decrease in K rate to 18.6% so we'll have to see what that looks like in June.
