The year Dietrich had to play the most 2B was 2016 when Gordon got suspended. His slash line that year was .279/.374/.425. If we can get that type of production from Diaz on a yearly basis and he's not inept defensively. That's a damn good starting 2nd baseman. I don't know if I agree Diaz's potential is much above that, though.

I honestly dont even know what Gallen projects as.
Gallen is going to be a better Burke Badenhop 4th/5th RHP longman out of the pen, who can spot or be a primary piece of "RP days" - which I think becomes more of a thing across baseball soon.
Sierra is probably an ideal bench outfielder for speed/defense. Hopefully like Jarod Dyson and is real positive.
It's going to hinge on how good Alcantara turns out to be as to whether they got the right guys for Ozuna. I think they are going to get contributors though, and its not deadweight like the Cabrera deal.

I think Uggla's line is a good comp -.240/.335/.450 - and taken with solid defense and good on the base paths, that would be great.

Guzman I just have a feeling is different. He is screaming reliever.

While they may ultimately become relievers, I like that they are keeping them as starters until it’s clear that they aren’t starters. Also, while obviously it’s ideal that they pan out as starters, they are both pretty safe as having the floor of a fairy dominant reliever which isn’t a terrible outcome either

The problem is the Cardinals have a pretty deep minor league system. And they just jumped at the three guys with the biggest question marks.Amy Adams, AKA Cinnamon MuffLogan Morrison: "If baseball didn't exist, I would probably be ... like a curler. Or a hairstylist."

Holy shit this is infuriating. Ken Rosenthal has an article about the athletic behind a pay wall about how the Marlins basically only want to trade Ziegler. I won’t post the whole article here because it’s paid content, but here are some excerpts
On Thursday, officials from two other clubs told me the Marlins were willing to trade only one player before Tuesday’s non-waiver deadline – right-handed reliever Brad Ziegler, who has a 0.99 ERA in his last 26 appearances and is still owed about $3.25 million.
“I’ve been very clear that we are open to listening, but also have been very clear that our relievers, more so than J.T., are ultra-affordable, controllable and talented,” Hill said. “The biggest message I want to emphasize is that things have changed in Miami. There is a plan and a commitment to building something sustainable.

I mean seriously if you don’t wanna trade Steck or JT or even Bour I’m all for it. What the hell does keeping Bearclaw or Dietrich or Castro around do?Originally posted by Madman81Most of the people in the world being dumb is not a requirement for you to be among their ranks.

It’s 5 days until the deadline. I’d take anything a GM says with a grain of salt right now. And I’m all for holding out for the best deal. Jason Stark just tweeted that the Marlins were one of 7 teams scouting the Brewers AA team last night with Milwaukee looking for a 2B. So I don’t buy them saying they are only motivated to move Ziegler.
