They have NOTHING great in the system but maybe Festa/low level prospect and IFA cash??

Miami was scouting Yadier Alvarez and if we make a trade with them(RP to LA) he will likely be the centerpiece

Most likely is Steck or Bearclaw to LA for Alvarez and 2 or 3 other pieces but LA is calling around

Cubs want Conley but same as Boston were told they can't afford him

Someone is going to overpay for Conley and I can't wait
I wonder if we could get Evan White from Seattle...We know that they liked him in the draft.

I wouldn't mind taking a chance on Vogelbach too and see if he can mash in a 1B platoon with Cooper when Bour inevitably is moved. A lottery ticket arm and Vogelbach would be great for Ziegler.

I'd also want Will Smith from the Dodgers. Alvarez would be good to add to Guzman in the hypothetical future pen, but they are catcher rich so figuring out how to get one of them is ideal whether you keep or move Realmuto. I'd love a situation where JT is playing 120 games behind the plate, Smith takes the rest, Smith is starting say 80+ games at 3B (because I think its stupid, but I see them leaving Anderson in the OF at this point), and JT is playing another 10+ at 1B on random days. That would be great and would allow them some flexibility with the other bench spots having their catchers and Anderson basically covering all the corners.
Ya the price for Ziegler is what u said-if Seattle is interested I would try Festa/Joe Rizzo or Bryson Brigman/IFA Cash for Ziegler and cash. Festa replaces Ziegler on 40 man and get a MIF too. Festa is #9 Prospect for Seattle and 25 yr old setup/closer

I would ask for Evan White for Ziegler and cash!!! See if we can rape Seattle again

One thing to remember about trades is 40 man spots next year. We already have to add a few guys

We will probably ask for guys like Lux,Will Smith,Estevez,Tony Gonsolin but they seem to want Alvarez in any deal

      • Alvarez doesn’t do it for me for barraclough. He has promise but as the centerpiece of a deal where we are finally selling high in barraclough id want a guy with top of the rotation potential or an every day infield bat

Is the 40 man really an issue? (I'm assuming Barraclough, Castro, Straily, and Dietrich are the moves)

SP - Alcantara, Chen, Lopez, Peters, Richards, Ca. Smith, Urena (7)

RP - Conley, E. Hernandez, Garcia, M. Gonzalez, Guerrero, Meyer, O'Grady, Rucinski, Steckenrider, Wittgren (10)

          C - Realmuto (1)

IF - Bour, Cooper, Riddle, Rojas, Prado, Anderson (6)

OF - Brinson, Sierra, Lee (3)

That's 27 guys, and the maybe list of the fringe guys isn't exactly exciting. Maybes - Del Pozo, Despaigne, Graves, Needy, Rivera, Ortega, Kinley???

Who's new? Brigham, Quijada, Diaz, Dean, Monte, Neidert, Gallen, and Yamamoto? I don't think they need to even protect all of them, but they should all be on it for potential call ups. Let's give it to all of them and call it 35.

Guzman was a 2015 so he's not eligible? Am I missing someone here?

So they got at least 5 spots theoretically left, and it's not like some of those RP above, Prado, Lee, etc. need to be on a 40 man in a pinch. They probably have at least 5-7 spots to go with whatever they get in trades right now, and likely a free agent or two. I think they're pretty good here as they can earmark 1-2 of those for more SP, no new RP are needed, 2 catchers, and 1-3 more other bats.

          • I am not saying there is a crunch as they will have spots. I am saying they are looking at getting guys who dont have to be on the 40 man

They have to add Brigham,Dean,Quijada (I think) then Gallen,Neidert,Diaz will be call ups so they will have to be on

Plus wouldn't be surprised to see Rule 5 guy AND another trade with NYY.

Their will be other guys in the deal. I am saying the SP they are looking in a deal is Alvarez. Probably looking at Lux OR Will Smith as well

            • Alvarez + 2-3 other pieces would be acceptable then depending on the other pieces. Lux makes a lot of sense for us as wel

                • Kinda sad that our top prospect strikes out 1.6 times per game.

Also, Pablo Lopez should be way higher on the list.

How do they go from asking for Mejia, one of the top 25 prospects in baseball, as a centerpiece, to Yaidier Alvarez, barely a top 10 prospect in the Dodgers' system as the centerpiece? That's far from an overpay.

I, for one, am always amazed at the buffoonery of these lists. Who's the hottest Marlin pitching prospect? Pablo Lopez no doubt. He's listed 18th! Gallen and Alcantara rated ahead of Brigham? They'll never put up AAA numbers like Brigham. Bullpen arms like Alcantara, Guzman, Cabrera in our top six? Silly. Harrison our #1? He hasn't even developed a plan at the plate. What are the odds of him becoming a contributor in Miami? One in four?

I shouldn't have said "centerpiece" as I think they will try for Lux or Will Smith in the deal as well. Alvarez is the SP they want in the deal

Bearclaw straight up for Mejia to Bearclaw or Steck for Alvarez plus 2 or 3 others

The lists are crap!! Just a guide to see-MLB.com bases rankings on projection/where u were drafted and not tons on stats. Fangraphs/BA do ALOT better

Brigham is projected as a RP in the majors and is 4/5 yrs OLDER than they are

I would veto the idea of trading for Alvarez. The walks are prohibitive. Dustin May - yes.

U guys are missing the fact that its a PACKAGE!!! Its not Bearclaw or Steck for Alvarez its

                            LA-Bearclaw or Steck
Mia-Alvarez/Lux or Will Smith/Estevez/more (Guessing on names)

                            • Personally, I'd rather see them go after a good headliner, rather than a package of 3 or so solid prospects.
