I'm certainly jealous of Tampa Bay's flier on Jalen Beeks. Similar to Caleb Smith in a few ways. Made me wonder why Boston wouldn't want Straily more = hell, he outdueled Eovaldi in his last start.

Doubtful. Well maybe Chris Shaw but I wouldn't want Beede,Garcia and they wouldn't do Ramos

I doubt they will even do this but Marlins are looking at it as are teams like KC,TB and others. I just mentioned it because its nice to see us willing to add salary to get some prospects and are willing to add money in deals to get better ones finally

One thing I love about Tampa FO is they know when its time to trade guys and get prospects/younger players. They got a solid offer and take it instead of trying to get cute/keep guys and get nothing

He's due basically $21 million ROS/2019. Roundballing it, that's eating $17 million to not pay $4 million. The Marlins would save a little over $3 million once you take into account they would promote someone club controlled to 25 man roster they'd have to pay.

Is that worth saving $3-4 million now, or "gambling" until the 2019 deadline and hope you can move him for more money saved to a contender. You might save double that if he is performing well in April/May/June/July 2019.

It's a shitty situation anyways you look at it. I'd dump him to save $3 million though. That pays for Conley next year and if that's Prado's parting gift, I'm cool with that.

More likely is Castro with cash. Less cash and more interest around the league. Move BA back to 3B and Prado to 2B then when Diaz is ready u try to trade Prado

Splitting hairs, but he has a $1 million buyout from an option in 2020, so it's $15-16 probably. Fangraphs has him 11th in WAR, but is more likely 13th because they have Torress/Cano right behind him with way less games. Either way, he's really solid and the contract isn't overbearing.

He makes a lot of sense for the Brewers and maybe Red Sox.

I know it's not related to the trade deadline or anything, but here's an article on one of the ways they're trying to involve the community(ies), though "Neighborhood Nights". I wasn't sure it deserved its own thread.

I personally don't get the celebrity bobblehead giveaways - why would I want a DJ Khaled or Pitbull bobblehead?

Reaching out to the community is good, but I'm just curious what they're doing that isn't just "Ok Doral, buy season tickets!"

“We are Miami , we are the home team, and we want everyone to rally around us the way we’re rallying around the [local] neighborhoods,” said Elisa Padilla, the Marlins’ senior vice president of marketing and community relations.

The Marlins have scheduled a series of “Neighborhood Nights” involving 10 Miami communities through the end of the season in September. The first of those will be held Saturday when Doral residents can receive ticket discounts, with some seats going for as low as $15.

The Marlins will conduct promotional events in each of the 10 communities, as well.

“We don’t want to just go into communities and say, ‘Okay, Doral, purchase season tickets’ and then just walk out,” Padilla said. “We want to start bringing the brand of the Marlins into the communities, and the only way we’re going to be able to do that is to be where our potential fans live, work and play.”

Other featured communities include Coral Gables, Coconut Grove, Kendall, Wynwood and Hialeah.

The Marlins have designated Sunday as “305 Day,” which includes a Pitbull (“Mr. 305”) Bobblehead giveaway. Cuban-American rapper DJ Laz will throw out the ceremonial first pitch.

“I’ve spoken to so many people who have never even been to Marlins Park,” Padilla said. “We want to build the fan base with the people who are in our neighborhoods, with the people that are here with us.”

Any of the FV40 guys work for Ziegler - https://www.fangraphs.com/blogs/top-...ttle-mariners/. The Andriese/Oh trades all line up for that. I wouldn't mind taking a chance on Vogelbach too and see if he can mash in a 1B platoon with Cooper when Bour inevitably is moved. A lottery ticket arm and Vogelbach would be great for Ziegler.

I'd also want Will Smith from the Dodgers. Alvarez would be good to add to Guzman in the hypothetical future pen, but they are catcher rich so figuring out how to get one of them is ideal whether you keep or move Realmuto. I'd love a situation where JT is playing 120 games behind the plate, Smith takes the rest, Smith is starting say 80+ games at 3B (because I think its stupid, but I see them leaving Anderson in the OF at this point), and JT is playing another 10+ at 1B on random days. That would be great and would allow them some flexibility with the other bench spots having their catchers and Anderson basically covering all the corners.
