I still don't get the reasoning behind getting more lesser depth players then actually getting a decent return. Straily may not be having the year he has had the last 2 but he should bring back more then 2 depth players at the trading deadline. He is on a cheap contract this year and under control for another couple of years I believe. I don't see the positive in selling low on him now. I think they should keep him on the team until they get a real offer or until they have minor leaguers ready to come up and take his place. I don't see Alcantara as being ready. He has been ok at AAA but he is not making a case that he should be in the majors now. At this point in time they should be looking to get better prospects back. The Marlins minor league system is still in the bottom third.

Still not hearing them mentioned with any international players of note. I know they were linked a little to Gaston at one point but not sure if they still are trying to sign him or anyone else.

I never will understand the organizations fascination with Alcantara. I mean cool he has a fastball...that he has no control over and no secondary pitches to speak of. He has tried to work on his control this year and as a result his K's are way down and he has still BBd 30 in 79 innings.

He makes sense as a throw in to sweeten the pot but as a centerpiece is just baffling.

BA seems to be hinting that you are way off on what they may be paying Gaston. Seeing a link now that an NL East team is signing a 16yo who throws 100 for over 3 million.
