  • Anyone else notice Mattingly’s demeanor in the last 2 post game presser’s conpared to the rest of the season?

He’s a beaten man. I wouldn’t be surprised if a change is coming.

    • 0% chance Mattingly gets fired this season. They knew they'd be bad, and for all we know they don't even have the guys they actually want in the front office (who would be hiring a new manager). Plus Jeter and Mattingly have a very long relationship. Also doubt if Mattingly would quit because he's one of those consummate pro types. Wouldn't shock me if he "stepped down" after the season or something though. Don't see them going new age though, someone dumb like Tony Pena who Jeter knows and who has managerial experience wouldn't shock me, or if it's going to be a non-manager then Giambi or Kevin Long or Rob Thomson or maybe they just say fuck it and hire ARod. I can't imagine it's someone with no Yankees/Jeter ties though.

      • He won’t get fired.

But he doesn’t look like a man that can stomach another 77 days like today.

          Pretty sure Jeter hates ARod.

I didn’t know anyone kept the games on long enough to make it to the post game conference....I know I don’t.

              No chance unless Mattingly quits.

From what has been reported, the relationship is not great.

That being said, I am 100% on board of A-Rod being the next manager if they make a change. I hope businessman Jeter understands A-Rod would be fantastic even if they had Alpha-Male complexes on the same Yankees teams.

Maybe J-Lo play after a game too.

I don't think a change is coming. I think he's just realizing the last 10 guys on the roster are as bad as we all thought.

I think he's going to have a lot of fun come August 1st when its the kid corps fully up and not these slogging vets.

                • Mattingly isnt going anywhere. It will be like the situation with the cubs i think where mattingly manages the reubild and then when the next step in the rebuild takes hold he will cede the position to a better more high profile manager. But if he didnt resign or get fired last offseason, he's here for a while.

Juan soto now already being promoted to AA for the nationals. No chance we will be able to get him anymore in a deal for JT. he is going to be an absolute star

                  • We did try on Soto with both Yelich and JT. Still funny reading comments from guys on this board when said Marlins said they would take Soto instead of Robles and was trying to tell them he would be Top 5 in baseball by end of year.

Kieboom hasn't hit great but not terrible either

Still think we will be seeing JT to Toronto IF they are still in it by July(Miami doesn't want him in the NL)

ya soto, outside of vlad, he might have the best hit tool of guys still in the minors. We need to get him if we deal JT there. i'd do jt for soto and raudy read and thats it honestly.

And kieboom has been really good the last 10 games or so. he'll be fine. still has the same question of whether he can stay at SS.

Id be fine with toronto too. Bichette, Danny Jensen, Reid Foley, and maybe another arm and we throw in a reliever.

If Toronto is within 5 games by mid July I would say they are the favorites. Depends on what Toronto is thinking really. Houston is another spot IF they really need a C

JT(maybe Prado or Ziegler with cash) for Bo,Danny Jansen and a mid level arm

                        • i dont know mlb's rules on domestic violence, but barraclough would be interestign in that deal too considering Osuna just got in trouble off the field

Toronto can use a few things we have. Its all about what Toronto is thinking come July-they know what we like from them from the Yelich trade.

If they are in it then Prado/RP/JT/Castro could all be of interest

That's true. Supposedly thats why we were able to do the Ozuna trade- we had already known their system a lot from the stanton talks.

Also, since we would still need a catcher for next year, maybe taking back russell martin and getting him for next year with them paying a significant part of his contract makes some sense since they wouldnt need him anymore. He's not good anymore but he's a good clubhouse guy and could fill our catcher spot for a year.

I could see something with Martin, Bichette, Reid-Foley, Jensen, and a super young flier on an international guy for JT, Prado's contract, and Ziegler/Barraclough.

                              or pentecost instead of jensen.

and tjfla, is there any indication as to the extent with which they will deal guys off at the deadline? Are we going full teardown, or just the guys who we will be able to get significant value for and then try again in the offseason?

I think Bour makes a ton of sense to deal at the deadline instead of waiting for the offseason out of the all the guys we have because that 1b power hitter/DH type seemingly has a ton of free agents every offseason.

                              • I have heard if they get offers they are willing to deal. Fine with throwing in cash as well if gets better prospects

Wanna keep Jarlin,Wittgren,Tayron,Steck,Peters,Smith Richards,Rojas,Anderson,Brinson but anyone else could be dealt/gone.

The goal is 2020 and cheap controllable guys. If a team calls on Bearclaw and offers a nice package they will deal him because #1 he will be 30 in 2020 and cost alot of cash. They won't be throwing him in a deal but if someone overpays he gone

AL teams have talked Bour and DD. If Boston or Texas lose a power bat I could see either of them jump on Bour. It is still too early to make trades
