Ziegler will get u something. Tazawa will not but maybe a contender loses something and wants him. U have to pay him anyway so use his arm.

Wasnt the old regime. Mike Hill has been making solid deals since they let him do it himself and not get involved. He actually took Lopez and Miller instead of Provose

Shiraldi isnt anything special yet. In fact Brayan Hernandez could be the best prospect still in that deal

Steckenrider isn't getting traded. Bearclaw very possible and could get u more than what we got for Phelps

    • tazawa is the definition of a sunk cost. Ziegler i agree MIGHT be able to get you a fringe prospect type so i wouldnt DFA him, but tazawa isnt a major league arm.

Do tell. Exactly which trades were engineered solely by Michael Hill and which ones were not?

O i agree with u but we have to pay him anyways. So use him-who knows maybe someone will take him if we pay his $?

Ziegler will still bring mid level prospect or ML ready non prospect like Cishek/Bearclaw deal

          • i guess. I just dont see any team taking ziegler and giving us anything other than organizational depth. literally no one is taking tazawa though. that i can guarantee.

Not solely by Mike Hill but since the Hech deal. Jeff and his crew had NO say. In years past other teams would deal with Jeff and he would have final say

Deals since Oct have been Denbo/Mike Hill

Hernandez and Torres were hurt last I heard. Likely skipped over them with Devers and Jones

                  Cespedes and Rogers no clue

                  • the rogers thing is really weird to me. he was out of high school so he still has time, but hopefully he's just pitching in extended spring games instead of being hurt.

No one is taking Tazawa until we pay ALL of his salary or we DFA him he passes thru and they only gotta pay minimum. Happens every year-watch by Aug 1 he will have 4 or 5 playoff teams fighting over him. Tazawa and Ziegler's biggest issue is $$$. Teams always would rather have a vet in pen than some 23 yr old Rookie come Aug

                      • there is no chance in hell there will be 4 or 5 teams fighting over junichi tazawa.

Watch. We will DFA Aug 3 or whenever-he will pass thru and playoff teams will be fighting to sign him

He sucks but they would rather have him and see if he figures it out instead of some AAAA guy

Its like Matt Harvey. Yes Harvey is 100% better(looks like crap right now) but teams are lining up to get him as long as the Mets either pay his salary or he gets released

                          • the only thing in common with matt harvey is that they both throw a baseball with their right arm

and that they both stink now.

Schiraldi is 24 years old (turns 25 in 2 months) in A+ who walks 6+ guys an inning for his professional career. Third year in A+.

You also keep Steckenrider with 5+ years of control and make a decision on him in 2 years if he can reasonably be replaced. His peripherals suggest one of the top RP in baseball and that's a longterm need. He's a HUGE win out of an 8th round 2012 pick.

By June/July starts we will be open for business and will be selling lots of guys off
I get it, but he is really terrible and at some point it's important to give innings to guys who will be around. I think he gets to the Super2 deadline at most when they can start calling up guys easier.

                              • wow, this craig mish interview on ethan skolnicks new podcast about untold marlins stories is pretty eye opening. essentially saying that Christian yelich while a great player was an absolute clubhouse cancer attitude wise because of how much of a shit show loria made this organization. Kind of echos what stanton similarly said. such a clown show organization loria ran.

                                - - - - - - - - - -

also bringing up that teams were aware the loria was so meddlesome and thought that he knew everything just because he read baseballamerica that teams wouldnt even bother asking for guys that were in there because loria would act like they are great prospects because he knows their names.

                                - - - - - - - - - -

rockies called the marlins for aj ellis at the waiver deadline last year, mike hill said ok, and they agreed to split his small remaining salary and we would have gotten back a prospect. Samson wouldnt do it because they wanted to not pay any of his salary. fucking christ this is maddening to listen to. So because we wanted to not pay half of aj ellis' small remaining salary, we ended up paying all of it and didnt get a prospect back. it blows my mind how those guys ever made money to begin with.

                                - - - - - - - - - -

Marlins were set on taking rogers last year in the draft, the night before loria calls them up on behalf of the other new guys in the front office and tells them to take Evan white who ended up going to the mariners, and then then meek had to get samson to convince loria that they should take rogers and he does. then the 2nd day of the draft those other guys just dont show up at first until they are forced to (referring to Benedict and Delpiano). Holy shit this is absurd. must listen.
