  • Do you think that other team will wait even if continues to tear up the league? I would love to get start prospects for him. If he changes his mind and we get to sign him to a contract it would be good too.

So our rotation for the next few series would be:
    1. Straily
    2. Chen
    3.Urena
    4. Jarlin
    5. Smith

Who do we send down? Peters/Richards/Merendy?

Ziegler can't be our closer anymore.

braves are more similar to the cubs than the mets. Plus they have both good and numerous pitching prospects as well as good and numerous hitting prospects. Acuna and Albies are stars, and they have enough pitching where at least a few will pan out. they are about as sure of a thing for the future as their is when youre talking about a rebuilding team. I think theyll be a contender starting next year, but i think theyll contend for the wild card this year too.

      • this is random, but what in the world happened to adam conley? He has been horrific in Nola again this year. He looks like he cant be a starter anymore and id like to see them try to turn him into a brad hand style reliever before we just give up on him which i think we might soon. We dont really have a lot of lefty reliever options anyways and he was a closer in college i believe, and i think he might be able to find a role being much more effective out of the pen.

          I agree.

          • Minnesota is looking to make a trade with Miami for Tyler Kinley. Hopefully Denbo takes them up on it

I guess anyone who throws hard is worth a flier, but what’s the difference between Kinley and Ellington?

              • Straily is officially pitching on sunday now. Chen is saturday. And prado should be back tonight but no announcement has been made yet. And JT riddle is moving up to Jacksonville for his next rehab appearances so he should be back next week. Looks like we have some rotation decisions to make. Peters will likely go down, but not sure whether they will keep smith or Richards. Id assume richards though and let him get some more developmental time in Nola.

Same guy but Kinley's command is WORSE. That is why I said hope Denbo takes them up on it. Get a young(18/19 yr old) GCL/DSL guy for him

Might see Riddle optioned to AAA to give him some more time

                  • I think they might be thinking of a promotion for Jeff Brigham or he might have gotten hurt. He was scheduled to pitch last night for Jax and then didnt.

                    • official: Prado is off the DL tonight and starting at 3b. Good to see him back. At the very least it gives us another major league quality player on the roster.

                      • Richards optioned for Prado's return. That answers that question. Im guessing Peters gets optioned when Straily comes back and Merandy when chen gets back.

Yeah, probably, but all I'm saying is if I were Mike Hill, if I were Derek Jeter I would feel like it's my responsibility to change his mind.
Jeter seems pretty stubborn (re: Gumbel interview) about that.

But I agree with you. 5/$45-50 should get it done based on comps (S. Perez is a near perfect comparable), and if there is a "Marlins suck" escalation needed, just go to $55-60 million.

Realmuto is going to be worth $150+ million the next 5 seasons (3+ WAR, reasonable projection), and the Marlins have him by the balls where he can't expect to make more than $15-18 in arbitration the first 3 years of that with no guaranteed money. That's not a great situation for JT.

Value two FA years at $20 million (which is objectively a lot), apportion it more evenly over the 5 years, and call it a day. Or just add a 6th year, which is scary for a catcher, but 6/$75 is a lot of fucking money for Realmuto today as a catcher and it's still an amazing value based on his expected production. He'll be entering his age 33 year when that deal is over and could realistically get another one or two 2-3 year deals if he holds up (which he should with his body type) like Yadi, etc.

Everyone wins. Realmuto gets paid big time. Marlins position core looks fun longterm with Realmuto, Diaz, Anderson, Harrison, and Brinson, and Marlins finally get a positive in PR.

Realmuto needs to understand the long game here and protect his future, and realize the team isn't a dumpster fire in 2 years.

                            • Brinson's gotta go down. I think considering we sent down a pitcher for Prado, we might send him down for either Chen or Straily this weekend.

His 1 for 4 with only 1 K tonight (on a NASTY curveball) was the final straw for you?
