    • So with Chen, Prado, Riddle, Straily, and Hernandez coming back in the next week or 2, who is gonna go down?

I think id go with Richards, Merandy, Cloyd, Rivera, and then Shuck as the other hitter who goes down, but i could also see Shuck being DFA'd and then Van slyke coming up too on top of those guys and Brinson going down for a month and us getting lucky with his service time.

      • Are we expecting Chen, Straily and Hernandez all to go straight into the rotation?

chen is starting saturday, Straily obviously will. Im not sure with hernandez. He's a weird situation and i think they might ease him in given his lack of upper minor league experience by making him the long reliever and keeping Smith in the rotation for a few more turns given his last start.

          if we're carrying 13 pitchers:

SP- Urena, Straily, Chen, Jarlin, X
RP- Barraclugh, Steck, Ziegler, guerrero, wittgren, tazawa, X, X.

Thats 3 spots remaining and you got peters, hernandez who we need to keep up here, smith, richards, Merandy (positive he will go back down), and then O'Grady and Despaigne possibly coming off the DL. I think we go smith for that last rotation spot, hernandez as the long man, then hopefully send Richards, Peters, and Merandy back down so they can start and then call up sean burnett as a lefty out of the bullpen to hope we can strike some lucky gold and maybe he performs well and we can possibly trade him at the deadline for anything.

          • it truly blows my mind that the marlins actually had severino and hollandsworth do a game together and didnt realize that its impossible to tell them apart. Its nearly a month in and i still have no idea who's talking. its as if a guy is doing a game by himself.

Edit- and they just had to acknowledge the fact that they sound exactly alike on camera. "Im todd." "Im paul." "dont follow the voices." thats good for a sport where they are never actually on camera.

i dont think a lot of the SP prospects we have will eventually be rotation pieces, but it seems like we have a shit ton of bullpen pieces for the future. I really feel like if we can develop that 1 elite SP whether its through current prospects or future picks/IFA signings, we have enough guys where we can develop enough at least quality rotation prospects and then move a lot of them to create a shut down bullpen in the future from guys who can be rotation pieces but might be better in the bullpen and have the tools to be really good bullpen arms.

            • Runner on 3rd. He let's Gonzalez hit. What is he saving his pen for?

Even for Mattingly that was a head-scratcher. Plus Gonzalez is over 40 pitches. Yeah not sure about that one.

                • Of course it's a 123 inning. Mattingly a genius lol

                  • The Marlins beating Kershaw on the road would be a very Marlins thing.

Then they’ll lose by 5 runs to Colorado in Miami.

                          • The pen was handled the way it was last night because Steckenrider was sick and Barraclough went on bereavement in the middle of the game for some reason.

i wish we'd just overpay him a little to convince him to stay longterm. He's looked like the best catcher in baseball since he came back, plus we're not gonna have many other guys that arent under team control for the next few years anyways so its not like the payroll will be too much.
