Why do you say this? Dietrich's numbers this year are pretty much right in line with what he's done since we called him up.

Even despite his struggles, Barraclough's overall numbers will probably never be better than this. If they wanted to sell high, should've dealt him last month. They didn't, but that doesn't mean you don't trade him for a couple prospects today. He's racking up saves and becomes arb. eligible next year.

I have more of a problem with Barraclough still being here. That seems like a huge missed opportunity. I mean we were talking about getting Mejia for him at one point.

Dietrich I mean you could probably re-sign him for 3 years/$5 million per in the offseason and still be super useful utility depth guy and it's not like he's old. You would think he'd be more useful to other teams but that must not be the case.

Problem there is, do you believe a 2021 Dietrich is more valuable than "whatever free agent you would sign for a bench roll" that offseason. Hard to project Dietrich's value there. I'd need to see him lock down a position for the foreseeable future with a blistering second half.

I don't imagine it helped that Dietrich went 3-30 with 11 K's ahead of the deadline ... or that Barraclough blew up ... or Bour couldn't hit. Teams in contention want a hot hand. Ziegler was hot and Maybin as well.

I don't see why not, Dietrich will be 31-32, shouldn't be on the downside of his career yet.
