  • very small sample but after grading out -4.0 defensively according to fangraphs measurement last year, Norby is .6 this year in the few games he has played. IF he can be a positive defensively or just average at 3b that's a big development. His next step is walking more. no walks thus far since he's come back.

    • Eury Perez and Ryan Weathers have begun their rehab assignments. Perez may be able to beat the initial timeline of returning by the all star break

      • trotting out a rotation of Sandy, Eury, Weathers, Meyer, and Cabrera for a couple months would be cool with Mazur and Snelling as depth and White and Noble meyer a year behind them.

It’s almost as if every trade Bendix made wasn’t terrible like you’ve told us 47 times!

at no point did i say every trade he has made was terrible. ive specifically said he did well on the scott trade and the rogers trade. i have said a full tear down rebuild was completely unnecessary and a complete misread on the market down here, and ive also said he sold low on just about every single guy other than Scott, which he did. And our sub 8k crowds every single night would tell you that this market is done with this franchise doing the bare minimum to compete and tearing it down at every opportunity. It's ok to sign guys long term. It might have helped us keep the top of the rotation lefty arm that we dealt at his lowest value that we dealt for an 18 year old SS who hits for 0 power.

Just like it would be ok to keep sandy and, GASP, build around a great player long term, though of course they wont.

                • the payroll disparity between the teams in this series is absurd. Also, maybe time to just get it over with and move Cabrera to the pen and see if it can help him become more effective.

                  • Moving Cabrera to the pen, Lopez to late inning defensive replacement, Norby to 2B, and Wagaman to 3B, calling up de los Santos and Bellozo are moves that need to be made.

kind of with you. I dont think Lopez should be a late inning replacement but i wouldnt mind seeing him and Wagaman switching days in the lineup with norby shifting between 2b and 3b those days. Neither is probably a starter but both should get some at bats. De Los Santos i would give a couple more months in AAA. Bellozo is probably deserving of being up here above Cabrera and obviously Gillispie at this point, but i'd like to see Mazur get some starts if the choice is between him and bellozo. or you call them both up and get cabrera in the pen and then you have the open spot in the rotation already with Gillispie sent down.

Cabrera out of the pen needs to happen though. Just feels like it wont happen in the rotation and maybe he can find some more consistency or at least be a guy that sucks to face in short bursts out of the bullpen.

                      • joe mack hit another HR in AAA today. Looks like they are going to go from having some of the worst catchers in baseball for like 7 consecutive years to having 2 good looking young ones very quickly.

                        • jakob marsee has a pretty bizarre hitting profile. Doesnt hit for any average or power but walks a ton and steals a shit ton of bases efficiently. last year hit .200 with 10 hr's but 51 steals and 92 walks. this year he's hitting .240 but 20/22 in SB's and has 20 bb's to 22 k's.

The issue is his glove probably doesnt make up for how bad of a hitter he is.

That's worse than Marlins era Donovan Solano. And it isn't like he has a track record and you can chalk it up to being a slow start like you can with Swanson or Correa.
