i'm not watching closely enough, but matt mervis is apparently a terrible defender at 1b? Fangraphs has him being really really bad.

Looking at splits, Griffin Conine has a .917 OPS against LHP in 41 PAs in his career. May be flukey, but just thought it was interesting. I think at some point you'll have to deal one of Stowers, Conine and Sanchez because they are all left-handed corner OFs.

“Jake Burger traded at lowest value”
Huge stretch to bolster an anti-FO stance
0.4 WAR in 2022
2.2 WAR in 2023
1.4 WAR in 2024
He didn’t fit in to long term plan and was traded accordingly. Traded at lowest value is a big nothing BURGER.
Jake Eder is out of baseball by the way. Feel bad for that kid he was so promising.

They actually got a good return for Rogers and they werent here at the peak of his value, but he was traded at about his lowest value as well.Last edited by fish16; 04-21-2025, 12:57 PM.

Nice work, Bendix!
Also not sure what that has to do with him being dealt when his value was at it's lowest in his tenure here.

I think my issue with your being so mad about Burger is he didn't and still doesn't have much of a track record one way or the other and he's almost 30 on top of it.Amy Adams, AKA Cinnamon MuffLogan Morrison: "If baseball didn't exist, I would probably be ... like a curler. Or a hairstylist."

obviously just a game and this cliche means pretty much nothing, but ramirez absolutely looks the part. His body type reminds me a lot of wilson contreras. Im super interested to see how they handle the C position the rest of the year. Fortes should be back soon, Hicks cant go down because he was a rule 5 pick and theyve already invested time into him, but Ramirez seems to be a piece. If there is service time implications of sending him down a little bit, i'd imagine that's what they do and then maybe deal fortes closer to the deadline when they gain an extra year.
I'm also super interested to see what they do between mack and Ramirez at C in the future. Both look like good pieces moving forward, and both should be ready by next year. Ramirez i believe has played some 1b, but then what do you do with Mervis if he keeps hitting, not to mention DDLS if he becomes an option. DDLS plays 3b (not well), but then you also have Norby at 3b. Going to be a lot of moving parts.Last edited by fish16; 04-22-2025, 08:12 AM.

I know it's a pipe dream, but if we could go out and get one of the SS Free Agents (Bo Bichette, Trevor Story, Ha-Seong Kim) it could be an interesting lineup in 2026.
C - Mack/Ramirez
1B - Mervis/De Los Santos
2B- Edwards
3B - Norby
SS - FA SS
LF - Conine
CF - Sanoja
RF - Stowers
DH - Ramirez/Myers
Bench - Ronny Simon UTIL, You could have Fortes come back, since Ramirez would be mainly a DH, or could keep another righty bat like Wagaman.
Deal Otto and Sanchez at the deadline.
Rotation:
1. Sandy
2. Max
3. Eury
4. Weathers
5. Mazur/Snelling/Braxton/Cabrera
White waiting in the wings.
Spend some money on the bullpen.
