incredibly positive start thus far for Mervis, Conine, and Stowers. 3 power lefty bats. I said it in the spring and ill say it again, the cubs trading mervis for Brujan of all guys makes 0 sense. He wont keep up quite this pace obviously as the K's will catch up to him eventually and teams will start pitching him differently, but ill never understand giving up on a top prospect after just 116 ab's spread over 2 years, unless you are really getting something of value back, which they didnt.
I'm not watching close enough to see how they are doing defensively, but mervis and Conine are grading very poorly defensively. Stowers is grading out pretty well. Edwards is not a SS but i dont really care right now if he's making the routine plays and not making a fool of himself. The bat is just too good to care when there is no one behind him.
Right now they have 6 different starters with a WRC+ of 114 or higher. Interested to see how Norby, Sanchez, and hopefully Ramirez soon look. Bride, Pauley, and Wagaman either arent starters or arent ready.Last edited by fish16; 04-14-2025, 08:38 AM.

One of the sites, i think BBall america, moved joe mack to 100 in their list. He's kind of caught behind Ramirez though so hopefully if ramirez keeps hitting they move them both up a level.
I think Andrew Salas will be in a top 100 list in the not too distant future. Obviously very early, but like his brother in San Diego, he's holding his own at a super young age relative to his level. He's only 17 and in low A ball, he's got 7 walks to 5 k's, plus 4 sb's in just 6 games.
Our minor league hitters are stealing bases at an absurd rate. As an organization we are first in the minors in SB's and at last check, second place was nowhere even close to us. Even guys like Ramirez have 4 sb's so far. Caba has 6. Salas has 4. Head has 5. Alderman has 5.

If they are going to go full rebuild which they obviously are, i really hope they dont do the service time games. I dont want to see the Gillispie's, Bellozo's, Wagaman's, Derek Hill's, Fortes, Brantly's of the world. Give us Mazur, Snelling when he is ready if he keeps up the good start, Ramirez, Mack, DDLS when he gets going. If they are going to be bad, at least give the young guys some run and see what you have.
