it is absolutely unreal how quickly we have lost ground on these teams. We were like 3-4 games up on the phillies at points in july and we are now 8 back of them. We were 9.5!!!! games up on the cubs at the end of the first half and we are now 5 games back. It is unreal that we are still only 3 games back of the 3rd wild card spot due to how the Reds. Giants, and Dbacks have also been shitty in the second half.
The waiver period for all the rumored guys end in the next few hours. Lets see if they gave up on the season or at least will try to stay in it till the end.
waiver claims are now all done. nightengale says the belief is the marlins will be the most active. i dont see how you dont at least go get lopez and moore to help this awful pen.
the fucking guardians, who are 9 games under .500 and 5 games out of their division, got Giolito and Lopez. Id guess we get Moore and Clevinger and maybe an OF?
Clevinger for the 5th spot in the rotation and Matt Moore for the bullpen wouldnt be a bad consolation prize along with any 1 of those OF's. Were there any c's on waivers?
Every single angel was reportedly claimed. holy shit they have had one of the biggest trainwrecks humanly possible for such a short period of time. And they will lose Ohtani.
unfucking real. we got none of the fucking players according to mish. Which means the only 2 fucking guys they made claims on were lopez and Giolito. So beyond cheap. See you next year.
Guardians got moore too. Of course we get jumped by a team who would not have made a single claim had they not just beat the twins 2 out of 3. I fucking hate this team
didnt even try to claim a single OF. Reds get bader and Renfroe, grichuk went unclaimed. Glad they are content to let DLC continue rotting in LF and in the middle of the order for us. we've scored 16 runs in 10 games, DLC, Wendle, Garcia, and Stallings/Fortes are complete black holes in our lineup for 2 full years, and they dont try to claim a single fucking bat.
Guardians have half the playoff odds we do and were 7 out 2 days ago before winning 2 straight against the twins to get to 5 back. in typical marlins fashion the worst possible scenario unfolded or we would have gotten all 3 of moore, giolito, and lopez. Why the fuck did they not put a claim in on clevinger at least?
bader went to the reds which means we didnt claim him. Let's see if we took a chance on renfroe or grichuk
They should have definitely claimed Bader for $866k. They had no chance at the pitchers with teams before them claiming so nothing to be mad about there, but Bader is a real head scratcher. Good move for Cincy there. I can understand a $1.7m pass on Grichuk at this stage as the team is going nowhere, but Bader could be a real piece if he's healthy and as said yesterday, getting him in the building would be a smart thing to do.

Clevinger has an option buy out next year it looks like, so that would be $5.5m for the month unless he was picked back up. That's cost prohibitive in their defense. He has an xFIP over 5 so not sure you could justify that $12m pick up next year. Cueto is lower than that for perspective. He's not really an option.
