The Angels are calling up Nolan Schanuel who they just drafted, and has been tearing up the minors. I’m posting it here because Todd was loudly banging the drum for Miami to take him in round 1.

You call up Edwards and Amaya for Garcia and Wendle. Amaya is going to play defense and Wendle already doesn't hit. Amaya should hit lefties enough. It's fine to try out Edwards there for a pinch third SS option.

The only downside here is your OF defense is really skeptical beyond Jazz and Sanchez against RHP. But what can you do. This is their personnel. They can fix that next year not having Bell, Soler, and Yuli on the roster and just one of them. Presumably Bell.

Then Hampson can be added Sep. 1 which opens up options. And maybe Alfaro gets swapped for Stallings and Yuli for Dane/Johnston if they go fill youth.

our OF defense isnt exactly spectacular as it is so whatever. We need to do something. We cannot continue to have these 2 spots that are pretty much 8 automatic outs every single night from the 8 and 9 spot. I think the improvement in offense from Wendle to Edwards is bigger than the drop off in defense from Wendle to Edwards. And there's also just the whole, do something aspect to it. Everyone can see what is currently there isnt working, try something. If anyone has ever deserved a call up from our system in the last 7 years, it's edwards. Reminds me of Dallas Mcpherson in AAA in 2008. At least then the guy struck out a ton so you could say there is at least some reason why he never got called up. I dont see what more edwards can do.

good for them getting their pick up so quickly, but everything they have done for months has reeked of desperation. It's understood, but holy shit has it been desperate.

I came here to say this. This is an incredible development. Hopefully it still works out for the Marlins longterm, but this is certainly something.

They called up Neto fast too. How about hire their 2nd in command on bats to be Marlins 1st in command on bats next year.

We are all on the same page of ditching at least 2 bats, likely Wendle and Garcia. I frankly don't care who they call up among Edwards, Amaya, Hampson, Alfaro, and Myers. Whatever two they want works for me, but I strongly think Amaya should be one of them for the defense and just ride Berti hard at SS otherwise. Amaya is an .850 OPS vs LHP in AAA this year and has hit them for years. I'll take .675 and the defense at the MLB level QUICKLY here if that's all he can do vs LHP. Berti can handle against RHP ROS. Edwards is probably next here for sure.

Sundays game was moved up to a double header on Saturday. Gotta tell ya, didn’t think our first time being impacted by hurricane season would be in la. Got to imagine the San Diego series gets impacted in some way as well. Shouldn’t be a bad storm but obviously they don’t get storms there so it will be really messy there if it’s a 50-60 mph tropical storm

so 3 games against the 11 straight win dodgers within 24 hours. This should be interesting
