  • new pipeline top 30 out. Can be looked at 1 of 2 ways. We either crushed the most recent draft or holy shit is our farm now barren after the trades and graduations from the system. From the draft, Noble Meyer is 1, Thomas White is 2, Alderman is 9, and Vradenburg is 10. Lots of other good signs as well. Meyer is still 3, but edwards is up to 4, Berry is back up to 5, Amaya, VMJR and Cappe are 6, 7, and 8. Fulton down to 11, Dane Myers all the way up to 14 out of nowhere. a ton of DSL/Rookie ball guys ive never heard of.

They have edwards as a 50 value overall now. Why the fuck isnt he up here?

They paid White A LOT of money. Noble got $4.5 and White $4.1. That's valuing him as a top 15 pick or higher monetarily. He was one of the harder signs in the draft so I think there is a strong financial argument to be made here he is an excellent prospect and teams passed because they didn't have the capital to sign him. Draft folks loved the Aldermann and Vradenburg picks value wise, as well as don't forget Lindsey (5th rounder) is 17th here right behind Monteverde. That's really good for that part of the draft even in a bad farm.

Cappe and Fulton behind Amaya, Mesa Jr., and the recent draft picks is sad. Also Groshans is out entirely so they too have finally followed Fangraphs. They did have him top 10 very recently. I still think they keep him on the 40 man though and won't give up for a year. And Sixto is also gone. I guess those BP sessions aren't interesting unfortunately.

I think they actually got this pretty right. The top 5 is right IMO, although I'd put Meyer over White. He's just hurt, he'll be fine. There is a drop off from there for sure but guys 6-14 look to be mostly right too. I'd have liked to see Mack, Banfield, and Johnston higher, but it's probably fair. I think I'd go for this as a top 20:

FV 55/50 - Meyer and Meyer (top 75-100 guys)
FV 50/45+ - White and Edwards (borderline top 100)
      FV 45+ - Berry
FV45 - Amaya (higher floor than Cappe)
      FV 45/FV40+ - Cappe, Fulton
      FV40+ - Myers
FV40 - Miller, Alderman, Vradenburg, Mesa Jr., Monteverde, Banfield, Mack, Johnston, Maldonado, Nasim, and Sanoja
(Sanoja he seems to be top of FG and Pipeline so I had to pick someone. I don't know about the rest of the 18 year olds).

I'd have put Vargas and Eder (velocity drop, higher if its short term health) in FV45+ land FWIW and Watson would be a FV40 for sure at most.

I'd say this is a below average, but not an insulting farm. But that doesn't mean much with the ludicrous MLB control (Eury 6, Burger, Cabrera, Garrett, Nardi, Brazoban, and Fortes 5, Sandy, Sanchez, and DLC 4, Luzardo, Jazz, Rogers, Okert, and Puk 3, and Arraez 2). Add in Meyer, Edwards, Amaya, whatever young righty (Bender, Soriano, Hoeing, Maldonado), and most of the roster is figured out for 3 years once Arraez is extended. i.e., the farm ranking doesn't matter at all right now.

This is fine. Are they going to sign Bellinger/Bader as the "Werth" signing, trade Rogers for Joey Ortiz (Bal), figure out how to get Danny Jansen, and then sign a 1 year stopgap SP while Meyer, Fulton, and Monteverde get up to speed and one more year of watching Eury and Cabrera innings? All eyes on you Bruce.

        • Kemp Alderman is 6-41 with a 2B to start his career at Jupiter because of course.

          • What's interesting with the Blue Jays with Jansen also is, they don't need pitching. Kind of. This is all controlled for them and good, and their top prospect is an arm (but not ready):

Gausman, Bassit, Berrios, Kikuchi, Manoah, Pearson
Romano, Yimi, Green, Richards, Swanson, Pop, Mayza, Cabrera

They have money coming off the books and need 4 bats, namely 2 OF, a play everywhere IF, and a DH type. They probably have $30-40m to spend if they trade Jansen. It might be interesting to send them DLC and Johnston, which gets them club controlled guys so they can spend all of that money on something like Bellinger/Bader and Rosario themselves.

I'd float them DLC, Stallings, Johnston, and Garcia, with Miami paying 100% of Garcia above league minimum so they can test him out in spring training, for Jansen, a FV45/FV40+, and 1-2 FV40 prospects from them. It's a bit of an overpay with all the DLC control years and Johnston is very intriguing for 1 control year of Jansen, but the catcher landscape in baseball is terrible so I feel it is paying a premium and making up the difference with resigning Jansen. You'd have to resign Jansen or this makes no sense. I think Toronto would be fine with Kirk, Stallings (I bet most teams value him as a backup), and maybe some Varsho. I think they'd love DLC as a DH in that ballpark.

Then you do Joey Ortiz for a Rogers type deal with Baltimore which makes sense all around, and yell at Bruce to do Bader, and they could have quickly have this for $104m or so. And this includes $16m dead money to Garcia, Barnes, and Cueto sigh.

            "Jansen", Fortes (Banfield)
            Arraez, Bell
            Edwards
            "Ortiz", Amaya (Nasim)
            Burger, Berti (Groshans)
            Jazz, Myers (Burdick)
            "Bader" (Mesa Jr.)
            Sanchez
(+ Berry and Cappe not on 40 man)

            Sandy, Eury, Cabrera, _____ (Meyer)
            Luzardo, Garrett (Weathers)
Chargois, Brazoban, Bender (Hoeing, Soriano, Maldonado, Nance, Sixto)
            Scott, Puk, Nardi, Okert
(+ Monteverde and Fulton not on 40 man)

I feel some 5th SP/Bulk RP rounds this out and you trust innings are coming with Weathers, Meyer, Monteverde, and Hoeing. That's a $110m team.

And if they get real fancy, they could sign another RHP reliever on top of this and another platoon 2B/OF and kick "Bender" and Myers to AAA. As said for the last 2 offseasons, this team at $120-125m in payroll would likely be outstanding on paper with their personnel. Maybe one day they'll do it.

            • huge series this weekend. Huge crowds expected. Think if we play well we will start getting into miami fairweather fan territory with the crowds for the last month and a half of the year. we started to see some crowds before the break and then lost all momentum, so hopefully with a good showing this weekend we can start seeing 12-15k during the week and 25-30 consistently during the weekends. Not huge crowds still but bigger than the 8500 we always get during the week and 15-20k we've been getting on normal weekend games. Great matchups with Luzardo, Sandy, and then the Eury vs Cole matchup. Supposedly we are going to have close to sell out crowds this weekend. Obviously a ton of yankees fans but thats the case with any big time matchup
