      • His ERA is inflated because he had that one really bad outing, but Garrett has been really good this year.

        • Gotta give fish16 props on Gurriel, he's been a nice pickup. I was wrong on that one.

Isn’t it kind of a wash though with DLC having a .791 OPS?

I don't think you were wrong. Gurriel sucks and had a .657 OPS before Coors. He has a horrible virtually unplayable hitting profile. His expected slugging is 100 points over what he is doing - https://baseballsavant.mlb.com/savan...-r-hitting-mlb. He got some hits finally in Coors.

He's been as bad as expected. We can tip the cap to a few timely/lucky moments he has made and praise they are surviving his roster spot so far without having a real -.5 WAR banger, while at the same time seeing him for who he is - a player they can DFA when everyone else is healthy. And they should do that as soon as possible before the upcoming drop happens. I don't personally see him on the team once Jazz, Sanchez, and Garcia get healthy. Edwards looks interesting and they should run with him for that last spot IMO. And if he stinks, just cycle the kids (Amaya, Groshans, Burdick, maybe this Davis guy, maybe even Nasim). Maybe one can argue he is better than Garcia, but at that point kill me because I don't care about the subtle differences between a shit or turd sandwich. Hopefully they just make a trade for an infielder so it puts this one to bed.

We got a long ways to go on DLC. A lot of good (BB rate climbing this year a little, K rate declining in May finally (21%), maintaining extremely high hard hit rates overall) and bad (.393 BABIP, still chasing a lot of shit pitches, defense is legit bad) are happening. He is offensively improving on his career rates so far, but not to the "stud" peripherals of 2022. I think this is a small step or two forwards so far but nothing that moves a major needle yet. Or maybe May is real and April was the fluke, and then watch out. He's a complete unfinished product to me flashing big upside here and there, but 3rd division DH downside. I want to see a lot more. It's still a SSS this year. Especially defensively.

He's the last guy on the roster and he's hitting around .300, that's a win.

I still think DLC is a 4th OF, he hasn't won me over yet.

I would quibble and say a solid 3rd (offense is still way down from years ago so hitting anything is still valuable), but he hasn't moved any needle much I agree. A few small steps forward if anything and that's really just credit for not falling on his face.

He needs to have a realistic BABIP and a .750+ OPS and OK enough defense, or closer to an .800 OPS and his current defense, to move up beyond call it an OK 3rd/good 4th OF wherever he falls on the scale for everyone. I'm not sure what is coming yet, but he's been very good since Atlanta struck him out literally every PA for games.

I'm not sure a guy projected to be nothing is a win, but I'll eat the crow if he keeps dinking hits and somehow busts out a 1 WAR season over 350-400 PA. I'm just saying here - you are way early and you will be right. He stinks.

Marlins and Rockies both have identical negative 50 run differentials. Only Oakland and KC are worse.

Now do andrus and his overall .534 ops and his incredibly impressive .469 ops against lefties , which is who the conversation was about
