Ya I think that was the plan in Oakland and we talked about it as maybe meaning him being able to throw 90 innings this year with us, but it doesn’t look like that. It’s also super early this year and the opportunities haven’t really come up to get him in games early on

Here I just think he was told he would be used in a versatile way. I’ll give skip the benefit of the doubt because there has really been no need for him thus far, id like to see him start being used more though. Saturday and Sunday and Monday weren’t close games and last night sandy went the distance. I think we will see him today regardless to get some work in
I think Mel at one point in spring said they were leaning toward having him as a starter, but obviously that changed.

That was Oakland's plan for sure - Puk also wants to start.

I imagine he leads the bullpen in innings and is used the next two days as they have an insane Friday night off day in NYC. What in the world MLB schedulers?

Also, SSS alert, but Chargois and Brazoban have had some excellent outings. Kim may have the real last laugh here if Puk, Barnes, Chargois, and Brazoban (and Enright) are all pretty good. Adds more weight to just hire an entire different front office to evaluate hitters. We'll see.

it's not an insane off day. thursday is the mets home opener. Teams, especially in the north, very frequently leave an off day after the home opener in case of inclement weather for the home opener. It's why only 5 games were played last friday- us (dome), the astros (dome), Mariners (dome), and then San Diego and LA where they never have to worry about rain.

          • looking forward to seeing luzardo today. Hopefully he keeps the walks down. The big thing with him is the third time through the order. Going back to last year he has been pretty great first and second time through the orders, he just gets lit up 3rd time through the order and as he gets later into his outings. Hopefully he can develop like sandy and start to be able to take the next step and get deeper into games. This should be a good test today against the twins great lineup.

he;s a really good defender. The fact that we play stallings as much as we do because of his defense is absurd. Fortes graded out phenomenally defensively last year and stallings graded negatively.

                          • That's now two absolutely perfect throws from Fortes so far this year. If he can become a decent starting catcher, that would be a pretty big boon for the Marlins.

Looked like maybe a concussion to me. His head hit the shin of the Twins player straight on.

                              • jazz looked more like a head/neck injury than a shoulder injury to me. Regardless, not saying it's his fault because they need to do something about guys covering second and just completely getting in the way of the runner, but there is a difference between playing aggressively and recklessly, and he often veers into reckless territory. For a guy who cant stay healthy, ,stop taking unnecessary risks. I get its hard to take that out of a guys game, but come on. He has gotten hurt multiple times the last 2 years in exactly this fashion, sliding into second. He's to important to get hurt foolishly. Either dont let him steal often or tell him to go feet first only into 2nd. Enough of this shit.
