I don't have a problem having him be Sandy's personal catcher. But give Fortes most of the rest of the games.

    • Benching Arraez against a right hander makes me angry. Today:

      Jazz
      Soler
      Cooper
      Garcia
      Fortes (!!!)
      Sanchez
      Segura
      Berti
      Hampson

But if this is the pool of guys, I'd do this probably:

      Berti
      Soler (or Cooper)
      Jazz
      Cooper (or Soler)
      Fortes
      Segura
      Garcia
      Sanchez
      Hampson

Practically, the only real beef I have is Garcia can't be batting cleanup until he does something.

Skip has Fortes FIFTH. They love him fish16. Don't worry about him.

They really don't seem to care about Broward/Palm beach fans much.

        • jake eder is now listed on the IL in AA with a fractured left foot. If he re-injured it in spring, it means he broke the same foot in less than a year. Like i said all winter, he broke his foot last year during his rehab. It's going to be a while before he's back pitching.

if they loved him (or at least loved him enough to make him the every day catcher) stallings would be playing only for rest purposes. It's clear they are going to make the lineup worse 3-4 times a week instead of twice max instead of just playing the guy who is far and away the better player. Stallings is not a major league player. He should not be getting any more than 150 ab's in a season, and those ab's should be solely to rest Fortes. Stallings is one of if not the worst hitter in baseball. He was horrendous last year and he looks even worse this year and in spring. He strikes out every at bat, and its not like he's working any counts. It's consistently strike outs on 4 pitches. He's struck out 7 times in 11 ab's. In spring he had 5 hits, all singles, in 30 at bats. He is flat out awful. He doesnt deserve to be on the team.

As far as garcia goes, he has 3 hits and a home run in 7 ab's these last 2 games. It's one game, it's fine. Garrett Hampson being on the team is ridiculous though. their refusal to get depth pieces is absurd both in the lineup and the bullpen.

            • Arraez needs a rest 6 games into the season?

Sigh. I suppose it means little, but these guys in AA/AAA need to be ready for big innings in 2024

                • And how often do you get to see two guys traded for each other square off so soon after the trade? Marlins hate fun.

                  • Ya, Arraez getting a rest 6 games into the year is annoying. It would be one thing if he wasn’t one of the hottest hitters in baseball, but less than a week into the year with him being the only guy in the lineup hitting when going against Pablo is a bit annoying

Agreed, we need the major leaguers to stay healthy this year and do everything possible to get Eder, Meyer, eury, and eventually Fulton big league ready from the start next year. I’ve lost hope on sixto, there’s only so many times we can be told he will be ready by a certain date and him not come close to hitting that date. I’m at the point where I don’t think he pitches for us and possibly anyone else ever again, which is a shame. We essentially traded the best catcher in baseball and 2 other mvp winners for absolutely nothing of value

                      • Also, can we maybe start using puk? I get that he’s the closer and we’ve been in few close games, but it’s ok to use your best reliever in other situations

Also, what happened to the plan of stretching him out. I wonder what put the kibosh on that.

                            Kim didn't get a closer.

Was there a plan to stretch him out? I think that was his plan in Oakland cause they were thinking of using him as a starter again. Here I just think he was told he would be used in a versatile way. I’ll give skip the benefit of the doubt because there has really been no need for him thus far, id like to see him start being used more though. Saturday and Sunday and Monday weren’t close games and last night sandy went the distance. I think we will see him today regardless to get some work in

Maybe that was the case. I just remember when we got him there was a lot of talk about him possibly being stretched out to start again.
