  • LeBlanked again. Charles on the bench again. He's been the best hitter on the team since the day he arrived ... and Mattingly doesn't care.

I guess the primary Marlin headline tonight is Dax Fulton's first start in AA

Anyone have info on Jake Eder rehab? Last I heard he was scheduled to throw a bullpen session ... a month ago. Odd that the team's top prospect (there's really no questioning that) doesn't get more coverage. Like most everyone else with TJS, Dustin May has returned better than ever for the Dodgers. He makes his second start in his comeback vs Miami tonight.

There’s no arguing the fact that Eder is our top prospect. Except for no one but you thinks he is. H’s a very good prospect. He’s not Eury Perez.

                  • at this point i could care less about the team result given that we are terrible. i want to see some positive signs and guys staying healthy through the end of the year. Last night and the last rehab start for Rogers were encouraging. Hopefully they fixed whatever mechanically/mentally was going on with him and he can get some positive momentum for next year after what is essentially a lost year.

Leblanc also has a BABIP regression coming at some point though he does hit the ball hard, but he looks like he can be a piece moving forward either off the bench or at best towards the end of the lineup. we need pieces who can hit the ball and if he is anything close to what he has been that's a nice development.

JJ bleday has been up and down but the BABIP is super low, though it has been throughout his minors career so that's something to watch for him.

Burdick clearly needs more time in AAA but I like how often we have been playing the young guys and getting them major league experience for a few months. I really think that helps guys even if they arent fully ready for the big leagues. They can see how guys at the highest level attack the holes in their game and they can go down and work on them before coming up again.

We need more complete pieces but there really are a lot of solid platoon splits that we can live with. Burdick is going to hit lefties and jesus sanchez might be a good platoon guy to pair with him in a corner OF position.

Other than that, please don't get sandy hurt and please let cabrera and luzardo get a healthy offseason to prepare for next year.

                    • Lots of fans like the work that fangraphs.com does. They rate Bleday as the Marlins' #16 prospect.

                      • Bleday, Encarnacion and Burdick have been pretty much exactly how I would expect them to be. They'll be in the mix going forward, but certainly not guys we should be penciling in as starters any time soon.

                        • So far (87 PA’s), Burdick is a right handed hitting Jesus Sanchez without the 490 foot HR’s. Swings at everything.

To be fair to Burdick, it's not like he was lighting it up in AAA either, and I know he's a year older than Sanchez, but he was working with about 1000 less minor league ABs than Sanchez when he was called up. He needed some more time, though I think this time he's spending in the bigs will help him in the long run.

                            • Last year Lewis Brinson hit .236 in 290 plate appearances with a .639 OPS. What did the Marlins do? Sent him packing.
This year JJ Bleday is hitting .191 in 133 plate appearances with a .683 OPS. What do the Marlins do? Bat him cleanup.

Charles Leblanc led the Marlins in hits (20) in August, despite only 66 at bats.

Oh come on Lee. You have some ridiculous takes, but this may take the cake.

Brinson had years of underperforming/poor numbers by the time he was let go. And you’re comparing that to Bleday’s first 133 major league ABs of his career? Come on.
