  • jj bleday looks impressive very early. he doesn't seem like a pure power guy but more like a mike lowell gap type power while hitting 20-25 hr's per year.

    • sure am tired of seeing trevor rogers labor through 4-5 innings with at least 3 ER and way too many pitches every 5th day for the last 4 months.

        Does 6 ER sound better?

        • get this fucking guy off the major league roster already. christ almighty. how can this front office with a straight face try to say they are trying to win with this team and Mattingly still as manager.

          • Trevor has had one or two starts where he got dinked to death and deserved better.

But his stuff is VERY hittable the entire game. Not starter material whatsoever.

As I type this Drury hits a 3-run HR.

            • Don Mattingly coming out with his stupid face to take him out AFTER the 3-run HR was really something.

And then he brings out one of our best relievers down by 4 when the game is already irrelevant.

Why is this guy still our manager? This team sucks, but he doesn’t exactly help.

the issue with the dinking and dunking caveat is that he's still responsible in those situations because for the most part they have come after he has had numerous opportunities to put guys away. It's what I said when you said he was unlucky in the game he gave up 2 ER in 5.1 IP against the worst hitting team in the league a few weeks ago. if you get up 1-2 on a guy and cant get that 3rd strike for the life of you and they end up hitting a blooper or seeing eye single after battling for numerous pitches, that's not bad luck, that's what bad pitchers do. All year the K numbers are decent but he leaves a ton out there because his stuff isn't that good this year for whatever reason. He is incredibly hittable and has been since his first start this year. And he cantput guys away for the life of him. Just look at his pitch counts per start and how many innings he's thrown in each start. It's been piss poor efficiency all fucking year. 3 more pitches per inning this year than last year and 2.2 less k's per 9 innings from last year tells you the story of his year.

How the hell do you carry a pitcher on the roster till the end of july with a close to 6 ERA and a single quality start all year. Quality starts arent all that impressive. 6 IP and 3 ER or less should be the expectation for any pitcher. He's done it once all year.

                  • I genuinely wonder what has happened to Rogers. It is not all lack of sticky stuff.

He still had an ERA under 4 and a K/9 of almost 11 after the crackdown last season.

His fastball velocity is the same as last season and only a marginal difference up and down for his change and slider.

But everything is trending below average for him.

I dont know if it is location or mental or what.

Rogers would be fine if he got to pitch against the Marlins. Look at Lodolo last night. He was about a 6 ERA guy until he became Cy Young vs Miami/ Seems that every crappy pitcher thrives on facing the Marlins.

There is so much wrong with this team ... and so little right.

                      • That “highlight” vid of Astudillo pitching the 8th was the first bit of Marlins action that made me smile this summer.

                        • please trade pablo. it's the only realistic hope of retooling this lineup with some real talent.

                          • Thanks to Aguilar being fat and not turning a routine double play on Sunday, Mattingly won’t give Bass another save opportunity.

So, we get to experience Tanner Scott and his walks again.

I was thinking the same thing.

                              • Lewin Diaz basically made the play that Aguilar wouldn’t bend down to make for the first out of the inning.
