      • It’s sickening that they’re still sending Tanner Scott out to close games.

DO SOMETHING ELSE ITS NOT WORKING

A good team trying to win would have done it months ago. It’s a disgrace that they wait until exactly July 31 every year to make sure they are still in it before they help this team.

at the very least, bass had a disastrous start in the closers role last year but he has earned the closers job at this point if they are not going to make a trade or call up Meyer

i guess we disagree on what is fun to watch. bad baseball is not fun to watch, regardless of how close games are. That game was torture. watching a team be completely incapable of scoring runs for weeks on end unless they are gifted a runner on 2nd to start an inning is not fun. Watching a team with no run producing capability with a lineup full of slap hitters and AAAA hitters is not fun. watching a team being hamstrung by their front office is not fun. watching a bullpen that has clearly needed help for 3 months now is not fun to me. Watching a mediocre team that can be a good team if we had an ownership group who had any desire to do what it takes to be competitive is more discouraging than fun to me.

If it was year 1 or 2 of this rebuild sure, but to watch this shit with 1 cornerstone lineup piece and a good young rotaation as the fruit of 5 years of rebuilding is just a slap in the face to the fanbase. Every game there are 2-3 things you see that are both hard to watch and infuriating because a competent ownership group would have done what it takes to fix them months ago. It goes back to what i said after the ohtani game i went to, how can you expect any non diehard fan to invest their time, money, and support in this shit if the ownership group isn't willing to invest in their own team?

It's just a disgrace. This team is just 4 out of the final wild card spot and has been in that range for a few months now and they have clear holes in the lineup and bullpen (and manager for that matter), and they just do nothing to help this team.

            • Pirates strand a triple. Good thing we didn’t get down a run in the first inning otherwise this game would have been OVER

              • The double play machine is definitely not fun to watch

                • OF of Luke Williams, Billy Hamilton and De la Cruz. Things are bad.

                  • Jazz, Cooper, Berti, Soler, Edward Cabrera, Jesus Luzardo and Sixto (lol) That’s a lot of key injuries. I have very (realistic) low expectations for my team right now.

                    • Who would've thought Braxton Garrett would be more effective than Trevor Rogers this year? I think he's establishing himself as a true 5th starter mainstay. It's good to see.

                      • Couple of observations.

Braxton Garrett (who just so happens to have Nick Fortes catching him) is better than Trevor Rogers (who just so happens to have Jacob Stallings catching him). All the more reason to play Nick Fortes more, maybe have him catch Rogers once or something to see what happens.

Also, Billy Hamilton should be our every day CF’er until our GM decides she wants to do her job and gets a real CF’er.

                        • Immediately after Glenn Geffner heaped a full minute of praise on Bass, it’s 1st and 3rd with no outs.

The entire point of stallings is his defense... But I heard on the broadcast that Fortes was the best defensive catcher in AA last year? The offense can't be argued, and my eye test/memory says Fortes is superior at throwing runners out this season. How can anybody justify Stallings starting games in any more than a Jeff Mathis backup capacity?

Nice job of Bass to wiggle out of it, aided by a terrible at bat and terrible base running. I dare them to put Tanner Scott out there again in the 9th
