Tonight’s probably a good time to mention that the marlins traded Trevor Williams, a 2nd round pick from the previous year, for a front office executive Jim Benedict, that they then proceeded to fire within a year because he alienated the front office. And we also traded a decent middle infielder Ozzie Martinez for a manager who went on to praise either Fidel or Hugo Chavez for some reason

edit- it was Fidel, because nothing says come out and support the team I’m managing like making pro Fidel Castro comments in Miami. My god that 2012 season was something else. And my brother played against Ozzie’s son in travel ball and having witnessed Ozzie in person, it is most certainly not an act, that dudes a little fucking crazy

Did conforto just never sign with anyone this year? I don’t think he’s ever joined anyone, though I vaguely remember hearing something about a shoulder surgery.

1 step forward, 2 steps back any time they play an actual good team. We can convince ourselves that every time they start a winning streak powered by the nats that this team has any chance, but this season will result in an around .500 record and a lot of questions about what could have been if this ownership really cared to win. And lets not kid ourselves, we will all watch this team play shit teams the next few weeks and convince ourselves that because we are around or above .500 that this team is anything close to a contender, but we're not. This ownership is not trying to win, and any attempt to convince the fanbase otherwise is horseshit to anyone actually following this team on an everyday basis.

Would love to live in an alternate reality where marte resigned with us last year to whatever Ridiculous 3 year 50 million deal that was floated last year. That dude is just such a good ball player. Not a star but is the perfect missing piece for us right now. Him signing that deal before he hit the market is such a bad missed opportunity

we probably don’t end up signing Garcia which is going to be an issue for us for the next few years, cf is covered defensively and offensively, and jazz, marte, Anderson, Cooper, and wendle is enough with our pitching to put us in a much more realistic path to the playoffs this year. I don’t blame them not matching the Mets offer, but he would have been such a big piece the next few years on the reported terms he was willing to accept

I know Bass was a disaster last year as Closer, but he’s clearly been our best reliever this year. How has he not gotten another chance at closer? Instead we’re pitching him against the bottom of the order in the 7th inning.
