I like this idea. They've already got the lights going, make it a little bit of a rowdier non-traditional baseball atmosphere. Anything to get the excitement up since the normal crowds won't be anywhere near last night.

No, definitely not. And if we're ranking who is at fault for what will inevitably be a non-contention season, he will rank very much behind Sherman and Ng. But that doesn't mean there aren't benefits to letting him go, and I think Sherman will be looking for a sacrificial lamb.

      • Apparently on the broadcast last night Kim Ng said Avisail Garcia "has been a 30 HR guy numerous times in his career." He's never hit more than 29 HRs, and that was last season. Before that, 20 was his high water mark. I so badly want it to work out with her both for the Marlins and what it would mean for women in sports, but it feels so much like she's in over her head.

She was also touting Jorge Soler's On-Base ability as a lead-off man. He has a career OBP of .330, that's league average, you're not bringing him in for his On-Base ability. I don't know, she's toeing a company line, but I do wish she came off a little more knowledgeable.

I didn't listen to the whole thing, but I heard it was pretty brutal. In a way, you feel for her because it's not the best situation for a GM. But it doesn't seem like she's done a very good job with the opportunities she's had here, and she's certainly not doing herself any favors whenever she speaks publicly.

            • I too was not particularly impressed with her. But it's hard to tell of what she said were her own thoughts or spin mandated by the organization.

              • soler's OBP is actually higher than i thought it was when I first saw they were putting him leadoff, but he still should be in the middle of the order. Wendle needs to be leading off, and Jazz should not be hitting 9th and should not be sitting against lefties. I get his OBP was low last year and the splits weren't ideal, but he can never prove he's more than just a guy to platoon against righties if he's never given the opportunity to show improvement. He should be hitting at the top of the order or at the very least in the heart of the order. He's our most dynamic guy, let him prove himself and don't baby the kid. It's not like we have 8 other dynamic pieces as other options.

                • I mean his OBP wasn't just low. It was barely over .300 and he struck out almost 5 times as much as he drew a BB. And his approach doesn't seem to have changed much. He is a 5 to 7 hitter.

                  • Some shocking ball calls in that inning. Nice to see the bats waking up.

Nice to see you around, Cambridge.

Yes, some wild ball calls. Jazz is so fun to watch but he’s too relaxed sometimes. He got needlessly called out on strikes

Jeter removed all fun things in the park like the home run thing and the sea creatures race.

                        • Do people miss the home run sculpture? It was hideous and too similar to the pointless 2012 rebrand where the Marlins got arguably the worst logo and uniforms in the history of sports.

                          • I am probably the only person who liked the 2012 rebrand - maybe just memories of Jose. The sculpture made the stadium stand out - but it was terrible.

                            • 2 big wins on the backs of great pitching and the bats are coming alive. Need another big one from Rogers tonight with wheeler going tomorrow for the Phillies.

I cannot be more excited for this rotation once Meyer comes up, hopefully soon. 5 legit top of the rotation talents in the rotation
