both are cheap and under control for cheap again next year and you wouldn't be getting more than a flier minor leaguer for them. If they are under control might as well just keep them and give you at least a few steady bullpen arms. both are good bullpen arms. Astros had the killer b's in berkman, biggio, and bagwell. We have the killer B's in Blieir Bass and Bender. For the marlins guys they might kill the marlins a lot of nights though.

I don't either. Maybe they know DH is coming. Still, why are then then paying for him

Because they traded 4 years of Curtiss for a flier minor leaguer?

I have no problem keeping them BTW, but they literally just did a flier minor leaguer trade

Even so, we have Lewin and Cooper still. I guess they're just banking on Cooper being out half the games, is only thing I can think of, which is probably not far off. Just seems to me that now is the time to find out what Lewin has, and I don't see how that's possible now, I don't see them sticking him in the OF.

I would have kept Curtiss, I really liked him but Im fine with the moves though. I get asking why deal one guy with team control but not the other but i think bleier is the more valuable arm out of the 2 given that he's a lefty and honestly more effective. Plus it allowed us to build depth at C without completely emptying our bullpen to try to completely rebuild again next year. We didnt lose anything of huge value and at least helped give us 2 depth catchers as opposed to Wallach and Leon and whatever nick fortes is.

They'll probably put Aguilar on waivers is all I can think of. Even if it's nothing more than unloading payroll, which is honestly fine IF they reinvest it. (Que laugh track)

I think they are done with cooper and quite frankly so am I. the guy cant be counted on no matter how good he is when he is in the lineup. I dont get why they didn't trade aguilar either but only thing I can think of is they have had extension talks to make him the DH for the next few years because they like his leadership along with Rojas.

I would non tender him in the offseason though so I would have traded him.

Bleier is way more valuable because they have a MLB level lefty deficiency. They need him.

I think this is more than enough to start the year (I'm just kicking Pablo off the team at this point for a bat):

Sandy, Rogers, Sixto, Lazardo, E. Hernandez/Cabrera
Bender, Bass, Floro, Cabrera/E. Hernandez, Holloway, Thompson/Poteet/Neidert
Bleier, TBD longterm lefty bullpen arm they must acquire eventually

That's pretty good day 1, with eyes on Meyer and Eder (and more) midseason god willingly.

                    • I swear to god they better sign a legitimate longterm star FA bat and move Pablo for another one. Look at that pitching with a healthy Sixto, Lazaro, Cabrera, and Elisier being added.

                      • Alex Jackson needs to be everyday catcher rest of the season. Alfaro backup. Fortes and Henry alternating at AAA. Leon and Wallach taking a hike.

CF/RF split the time between Brinson/ Harrison / De la Cruz and if Brinson and Harrison can’t muster a .700 OPS I don’t want to see them ever again.

                        • wallach claimed off waivers by dodgers. thank the fucking lord. Hopefully leon and alfaro are next

                          • Kind of frustrating that they didn’t make a big move, but I prepared myself for that probably. Mish is suggesting they were discussing something big and says he’ll go into the details once he gets more info. Hopefully that’s still the plan. Pablo should be more valuable in the winter.

Now I just hope they play the kids. There’s no reason not to at this point.

                            • alex jackson coming up and joining the big league team. Im assuming De la cruz same thing. BA obviously back. Jesus Sanchez back next few days after covid. Jazz is back tonight. Assuming we will see a lot of brinson the next few months.

                              • Brian Miller and De La Cruz starting in the corner OF spots tonight, which is nice. Jackson coming to the bigs is also encouraging. They have to find a way to play Lewin every day and get Luzardo up soon.
