    • I don't even know why I try to watch them anymore

      • how do you watch how mattingly has handled in game moves this year, between consistently fucking up the bench and having to have RP hit and the bullpen moves on a daily basis, and say to yourself this guy deserves another year.

On top of that, why not try to bunt with Berti and bring a run in?

I think it was the right call to not bunt Berti. First of all Leon's slow as shit, real good chance if the bunt isn't perfect they've got a play at 3rd, and 2nd of all even if you successfully sacrifice, then you have Isan up who is a strikeout machine. Berti was our best shot there.

            • i understand not wanting to have regular season games that go 15-20 innings but i really hate the runner on 2nd rule. Runner on 1st, maybe i could be ok with that, but runner on 2nd really takes away the fun and drama of real extra innings

              • the mets have just given up 6 runs in the first including 3 runs on one of the craziest/dumbest plays you will ever see. It's so frustrating to watch mattingly manage this team like a moron when there have been so many games that could have gone the other way had he been competent at his job. This season has been whatever the opposite of fun is

                • how has it been a year and a half and we still have no explanation whatsoever about how braxton garrett went from sitting at 93 and topping out at 96 throughout the minors to giving all out to hit 91?

Love jazz's consistent 100% effort but he needs to learn how to be smarter out there. He's gotten injured several times this year on unnecessary things. Like yesterday when he jumps on the bag to stop his momentum instead of just running through the bag. That looks like either a chest injury or a shoulder injury from the way he landed on the dive.

                  • I'm ready for anybody at catcher other than the ones we have.

                    • Alfaro has been absolutely brutal. That was 100% going foul.

                      • Mish says Marte talks are over, and they're going to move him. I don't think that's much of a surprise to anyone at this point, but at least it removes that sliver of hope. I'm interested to see what they can get for him. He's a rental, but he's a really good rental for someone that can impact the game offensively, defensively, and on the base paths. Mish was on one of those twitter talking stream things tonight, and it was kind of chaotic because the guy running it kept not letting Mish finish his thoughts, and was asking some dumb questions, when Mish seemed like he wanted to actually give out some info, but he did suggest he thinks they're going to get a CF who will be starting for the Marlins in 2022 in return. Not sure who that would be. He also said the teams being named aren't necessarily the most likely, although the Yankees will be in on everyone, and when someone brought up the Astros, he seemed to suggest they could be in play. He didn't think the Giants were.

These "owners" as I have stated before are NOT here to win but make profits....low payroll FOREVER and luxury tax & and new TV revenues & stadium naming rights money is going to be making them HUGE profits......Derek's 1st introductory press conference back in Oct 2017....when asked about winning his answer was "we need this team to be sustainable" that's about making profits....not winning....I know you all will pooh-pooh what I say but no long term contracts, not stars to win games, lowest payroll they can have....it all points to PROFITS not winning

                            • Good news and bad.

First the bad: Mounting losses have mostly been of the worst kind - self inflicted. As someone above noted, catching is awful from both offensive and defensive side (and has been for multiple seasons). There are so many "sellers" at the deadline that returns will be weak. Brian Anderson hasn't been able to put wood on leather at AAA yet - it's been a whiff fest. The minor league hopes have been dampened if not waterlogged. Bleday, Misner, Scott, Encarancion, VV Mesa and even Burdick have all been disappointing to varying degrees (from extremely to very). Cabrera hasn't been effective in his last three starts ('AA and AAA). Meyer and Eder have retained great ERA numbers, but both are fading.

Good news: Bryson Brigman should get a chance to prove he's the beacon of our farm system! It's at least entertaining to have the MiLB HR champ in our system. I'm not sure why Conine's still in A+ ball. His HR numbers would likely be the same at any level.

                              • Return for Marte will be very underwhelming. He was hitting about the same for the Diamondbacks last year when the Marlins acquired him. He still had a year of team control that he no longer has.. All the Dbacks got in return was a pitcher the Marlins had given up on (Caleb Smith) and another that the team never had hopes for (Humberto Mejia). My dream deal would be to partner Marte and a good reliever like Bleier in a deal with Houston for catching prospect Korey Lee.

Note: I liked Mejia a lot, but he has shown nothing at the upper minor league levels for Arizona.
