If were up 3-2 going into the 7th and our reliever gives up a run to tie the game that's a blown save. but don't let that ruin your cynical, uninformed as usual, narrative.

And we have the 5th best ERA overall in the league. We arent losing because of the bullpen or the rotation, it's because our offense is mediocre and, even worse, wildly inconsistent.
blown saves for an offensively challenged team, are worse when the GM admits in an interview she knew offense would be a challenge this year. They set themselves up for a better than 50% chance the bullpen would blow things and have a very lopsided win/loss record in low scoring games. They never gave this team a chance from the start because they wouldn't spend any money. I'll keep saying it until you guys realize Jeter was not kidding about needing the team to be "sustainable"...which if applied is an economic term, not an athletic one. The emphasis here is to build a good farm system, keep the payroll as low as possible, and be damned about a winning MLB team, it's to maximize those profits from the new TV deal & newly signed naming rights - recoup at least a portion the expenses of buying the team. If they get lucky and the team wins and gets to the playoffs that is a cherry on top, but the main emphasis is to make a profit. There is a reason why they've not signed anyone to a long term contract....ok fish16 will say I'm stupid & have no clue, blah, blah, blah, but to everyone else just sit back and reflect on what I'm saying & how this is all turning out....there are ZERO repercussions for them carrying a low payroll, so they're taking advantage....they've figured out what I did a long time ago, people in Miami ARE NEVER GOING TO ACCEPT THE MARLINS, AND TRULY DON'T CARE IF THEY LEAVE. They won't because of the stadium lease, but people here have been given ZERO incentive to become Marlins fans if they already follow another team. Unlike the old days you can sit in your home and watch every game from whichever other team is your favorite....so the old "it's the local team we have to support them" is out the window....and because this franchise has done so many things to anger the locals, they have permanently turned the Marlins off...and just watch their favorite team on MLB.TV. If you're a t-mobile customer you even get a free subscription to MLB.TV....the Marlins have given folks ZERO reason to be a Marlins fan....unless you are excited about uniforms. 4 years into a rebuild and your fanbase has no one to cling to, no reason to look forward to the future, no one is signed to a longterm contract....and I'm not talking about a Bryce Harper deal, but one of your core players you've brought up from the farm, you've not signed sealed not a single one....and if you haven't its two things, you either know that you've done a piss poor job at finding that impact player or you just don't have the money to be a real MLB owner or are to cheap to sign anyone because you're trying to maximize profits.....Fish16 don't kill the messenger....

He will fall off a cliff again. He is good in small doses.

As far as I figure, players can be traded on the IL, but they have to go onto the new team's IL immediately. I'm sure they get all the info on the injury and make their own determination.

He's been pretty consistent as a major leaguer and his numbers are pretty close to what he's been since with us. He is what he is, a good guy to have off the bench, nothing more.

              • Marlins have arguably the worst catching situation in MLB

Make a deal with the Blue Jays who famously have 3 catchers among their top 15 prospects

Marlins don't get a C prospect back from the Blue Jays

We traded two guys who didn't have much value.

                  • True. But could have added to it to try and get say Gabriel Moreno.

That’s not how Jeff Passan made it seem. He said the Blue Jays liked Cimber, and basically the bulk of the value they paid was taking on Dickerson’s contract.

So if that’s true, once again, the Marlins sacrifice value for money. New ownership, same BS.

I think all signs point to the ownership being same old Marlins when it comes to spending money, but this is not the trade that proves it. I mean we're talking about Adam Cimber, who we acquired from the Indians in the offseason for unknown compensation. A guy who's been used in almost exclusively low leverage situations and has looked mediocre doing it. We can calm down on this one.

I'm going to go ahead and say a trade that starts out with us dealing Corey Dickerson and Adam Cimber and ends with us acquiring Gabriel Moreno, is an unlikely scenario.

For me it’s not the specifics of who we got or didn’t get. It’s that they apparently once again opted to sacrifice value for money regardless of how little that value was. It’s frustrating to see this happen over and over again. I’m not in any way freaking out about this deal, just dismayed by the philosophy.

The Blue Jays can like him and that doesn’t mean he’s worth much via trade.

We acquired him for $100,000 a few months ago, and he hasn’t done a whole lot to change his trade value aside from a better ERA (which teams don’t really care about anymore).

At the end of the day, he’s just a reliever who doesn’t miss bats.

#BlueJays getting $2.65m in cash considerations from #Marlins, per source. With all salaries going both ways, they are basically adding roughly $1m
