At the end of the day, he’s just a reliever who doesn’t miss bats.
If the Blue Jays like him, he’s worth something, no? I’m not saying he’s worth a ton, but the implication from Passan was that Miami could have gotten more from a prospect value standpoint had they opted for that over taking the money. Again, not a huge deal in a vacuum, but a bit frustrating to see this pattern.

    • Ng’s comments today were a little more encouraging. She said they’ve had talks about a Marte extension. Said this move was about allowing Sanchez to play every day and also allow Devers to play every day in the minors. She also said they have talked about trading one of their arms for a long term bat.

      • No problem here. I like watching Sanchez and didn't like watching Cimber.

        • not sure what the blowback is for this deal. i love it. dickerson I'm sure was getting close to healthy and they were tired of not only his bat but also wanted to get sanchez in the lineup and he is already better than Dickerson and it lets him play everyday. Cimber had solid numbers and was decent for us but he is a reliever that pitches to contact and those are simply not valuable.

they were interested in Panik back when stanton was rumored to go to SF before he nixed that deal and while not great he allows us to see less of Devers (who should be playing everyday in AAA) and Diaz (who has been awful) as well as letting Berti get back to a spot starter and fast guy off the bench. I have no earthly idea what more magneuris sierra has to do to get DFA;d already.

They need to give the team the first few weeks of July. Sixto is coming back some time around the trade deadline, elieser is throwing again, and Cabrera looks dominant in AA so if they can make some progress and get to within 5 by the deadline they should maybe try and buy a bat, if it stays in the 8+ games back area sell Marte (if they cant sign him to a 2 year deal) and Aguilar as well as free agent bullpen arms like yimi.

          • Big fan of this deal, shows they're not giving up on the season yet, and Dickerson sucked anyway.

In any event, I was gone for a few months and we're still in the April game thread?

Do you have a link for this?

I’m actually very curious to know when Sixto will be starting games?

The blowback for me is it raises another red flag on the spending front, because a goal was seemingly to dump his salary and kick in money nonetheless. Not saying they were getting Mike Trout for Cimber, but they packaged him with Dick+$ just to get rid of Dick/his contract.

Yeah, nobody ever made one for the other months lol.

What doesn't make sense to me is why they wait a month to try to help out the team, while they just let the team suffer offensively challenged and short handed on the bench.

I think what we know is that he's throwing, but hasn't faced live batters yet.

                  • ya sorry to act like i had info there, that was just me projecting on sixto now throwing from 120+ feet for a few weeks now and projecting his return if no setbacks. Next he will throw a bullpen, then probably 3-4 minor league starts Id assume so i was just projecting late July early august return, not based off anything I've seen reported. But if they can hang and get within 5 games with a rotation for the stretch of Rogers, Pablo, sandy, sixto, and Elieser/maybe Cabrera, id buy at the deadline for 1 more bat.

                    • Another thing Ng said is she’d bet Rojas will be on the team after the trade deadline. I’m torn on that. I think he’s an A+ locker room guy, and a really good utility player moving forward, ideally. But if you can get some value for him, I think you have to really think about taking it.

                      • Can we fire our hitting coach or something?

                        • I don't know why anyone would throw strikes to Alfaro, he consistently swings and misses at pitches 6 inches out of the strike zone.

                          • Hey guys we’re losing 1-0, can you believe it?

                              • Velazquez ERA vs everyone else is 6.00, Velazquez vs the marlins 0 ER in 13 innings. This team is so boring.
