It's really a mystery and something has to break soon, whether its the run differential or they go on a run and get closer to their Pythagorean record at some point over a more representative sample.

we have the 12th best run differential in the league and the 7th worst record. what a nuts season so far.
It's because they score runs in bunches in a few games (12, 10, 7 runs) and allow few, but then lose strings the low scoring 2-1, 3-1, etc. games.

Come to think of it, it's literally the opposite last year - they'd lose the occasional lopsided one and win the close ones.

The Marlins will receive infielder Joe Panik and a Jays prospect to Toronto for Dickerson as
@JonHeyman notes. Sources also now indicate Miami will send salary to Toronto to offset a portion of Dickerson's salary.

        • Trading Dickerson is no shock. He had already lost his job to Sanchez and who knows when he will be back. I assume that Panik is included to offset some salary and provide extra INF depth, which they do need. The key is the prospect. Cimber and cash could return a decent prospect I suppose. It'll be interesting who the final player going to the Marlins ends up being.

          • Glad he & Cimber are gone. Dickerson never came close to what we expected from him. Cimber was just one of the disappointing parts of a Kim Ng rebuilt bullpen that has been disappointing. 16 blown saves has killed this offensively challenged team

            • RHP Andrew McInvale is the pitcher the Marlins get back, per Kaitlyn McGrath on Twitter.

37th round pick in 2019. 28 Ks in 20.2 innings with a 2.55 ERA in 13 games at AA this year.

It is what it is. We get rid of two expiring assets that cost us money, open a 40 man roster spot, and get a lottery ticket.

we have the 7th best bullpen ERA in the league, the padres, who have the best ERA in the league, have 14 blown saves. Dodgers also have 16 blown saves. Blown saves is not the stat to use because it doesn't just mean blowing a game in the 9th. It is any lead being eliminated in the 7th inning or later. If were up 3-2 going into the 7th and our reliever gives up a run to tie the game that's a blown save. but don't let that ruin your cynical, uninformed as usual, narrative.

And we have the 5th best ERA overall in the league. We arent losing because of the bullpen or the rotation, it's because our offense is mediocre and, even worse, wildly inconsistent.

                    • also, Cimber was pretty decent for us.

                      • As usual, Twitter for the most part thinks we got fleeced. Are there more than 100 people in the world that know that Sanchez is faster, has a better arm and has WAY more power than Dickerson?

                        • Dickerson's gotta be one of the most disappointing signings in team history. He did have that big home run in the Cubs series, but other than that, terrible.

                          • I always get confused about trading an injured player, don't they have to pass a physical for the trade to go through? I guess it's not an issue.

                            • Pitcher we got back has good numbers at AA. I'm ok with this. Use the money you're saving on Dickerson, that's all I ask, probably too much to ask.

                              • Panik is basically Jon Berti. Although I think Panik is a better 3b which helps cause Anderson can't seem to stay healthy either.
