I've looked online, but haven't been able to find our median runs scored per game, but I feel like it is quite low.
edit: if my math is correct it takes our runs scored from a 27th best average of 3.92 runs per game to a median of 3.31 runs per game coming in to tonight.Last edited by Spork5812; 06-23-2021, 09:08 PM.

at this point they should have aguilar and marte on the block as well as yimi for the trade deadline. they're not competing for the playoffs and aguilar will be commanding 10 million next year in arbitration, yimi is a free agent, and marte can always be re-signed after the year. go get a future catcher from somewhere and look forward to getting the lineup to a place where it can contend next year with a few prospects blossoming and 1 big signing for a bat in free agency.

At this point with the division essentially out of reach, I think it makes a ton of sense to deal aguilar and marte and try to get a long term catcher and then let Lewin come up and play every day, and maybe at the end of the year get burdick/bleday/jerar Encarnacion some major league seasoning under their belt. Then try to re-sign marte in the offseason and do what the Yankees did with Chapman by getting a huge piece of future value while also re-signing the guy in the offseason.

Whoever brought up the median runs per game had the right idea. it's not that we cant score runs, it's that we score runs in bunches and then go silent for games at a time. the inconsistency is maddening from the lineup and as I was saying yesterday, the entire lineup is just so on and off that we very rarely have more than 1-2 guys swinging well at the same time. it's just been different guys in the lineup taking turns getting hot. Duvall has carried us for a few games, aguilar has carried us for a few weeks, jazz has been pretty awful since starting hot, marte is pretty much the only guy who has been consistently good or at the very least not ridiculously streaky the entire year. It's hard to win games that way. Luckily we have the pitching locked down and under team control for years and next year we will get to see hopefully a full year of some combo of Rogers, Sixto, Sandy, Pablo, Meyer, and Cabrera so they just need to figure out how to get more consistent lineup pieces.

Its all been hard to watch though.

I'm interested to see if someone gets desperate for a pitcher at the deadline, what would we be able to get for Pablo Lopez? Would Toronto offer Austin Martin and Gabriel Moreno, Dodgers Keibert Ruiz and Michael Busch? It's what we're going to have to do at some point, I'm convinced, deal a Major League pitcher for multiple impact hitting prospects who aren't far from the big leagues.
