to clarify, i dont think there is any chance we are in the sweepstakes for Bryant. my only point was that he is the rare 30 year old free agent who will get a long term deal that I think might be worth the money for a marlins team if it is even remotely in the budget. Doubt it is though unfortunately. The flexibility he could give us though would be great and his bat is top 3 in the league at 3b. Plus he and Anderson both have corner OF flexibility or maybe andy can learn 1b.

damn, i didnt realize aguilar is already at 47 rbi's this year. So happy to say I could not have been more wrong about him when we got him. Thought he was another mike morse that would be gone by mid season last year but he has been as good as you could possibly expect. He's arbitration eligible next year so we still have him under team control and Diaz hasn't exactly given any kind of confidence that he can play full time yet.
Plus, Aguilar along with rojas and jazz are the absolute soul and leaders of the team. Don't see how they couldn't bring him back unless they get a rizzo type guy in free agency who, btw, I would not love unless its for 2 years or less. There is a definite potential that he is declining and not close to the player he once was.

the more i see the comparables for marte 3 years 45-50 million seems about right given his age. Id do that in a heartbeat. We have young OF prospects but if we can fill CF for the next few years with that type of talent and consistency and only have to find 2 OF spots out of the current crop of prospects I'd be ecstatic.

Especially if he keeps up this current pace for the year. he has been the model of consistency every year other than last year's weird year and he doesn't have an injury history.

looking forward to the ways in which ronald acuna makes our lives hell for the next 3 days. I saw their salaries owed for the next 10 years and my god, I'm not sure who the wizard in the braves front office is or who the awful agents for acuna and albies are but for the next 5 years their combined salaries are: 8, 20, 24, 24, 24. Complete steals. Albies negotiated the single worst deal for a player in the league right now.

I'd be lying if I said I had any clue. At first blush, I would guess $20M per, so probably close to what you said. But with Covid impacting finances, and his age, that feels high the more I look at it. Realmuto just got $23M per year, and is younger and a catcher. He got 5 years, which you'd think is a decent bit longer than what Marte will get. Ozuna might be a better comp, and he got 4 years at $65M. He's younger also, though, so if you take that AAV for 3 years, you might have something close. So maybe 3 years, and somewhere between 45-50M?
The good news is, he wants to be here. So that should mean you're not going to overpay to get him.
