It actually feels like we haven’t won a close game all year. We’re about to be 8 games under .500 with a positive run differential after tonight.

in the limited times ive seen devers he looks like he has so much more potential and brings more to the table already than isan does. I just don't know what his ceiling is because he seems like such a mid 2000's 2b or SS that no longer really exists because of the emphasis on power. but he reminds me of the good version of dee gordon who might walk a little more. Similar players though

That’s mostly because of the absurd amount of 1 run losses. Not like we’ve had a ton of blowout victories.

100%. and before the deadline. not sure if he even qualifies for a compensatory pick if he walks due to the rules changes over the years but if he isn't re-signing and we haven't made any kind of run to get at .500 by then, you gotta at least heavily explore his trade market.

If he is ok with 3 years or less (ideally 2 years for me but id be comfortable with 3), id be very ok with that even if the money is high given that we have most of these guys under team control for that period.

he's gonna be a stud. there's just some guys you can tell by looking at their minor league stats even during their struggles where it is obvious a break out is coming. His BB numbers indicated he had such a good eye and plate discipline even despite bad all around numbers. It was obvious a breakout was coming once he made the typical new level adjustments. I love seeing the adjustments day to day at a new level from minor leaguers.

Doesnt necessarily work like that for young guys at the major league level all the time but it feels like it does for the prospects as they climb through the minors.

Jazz reminds me a lot of ozzie albies with more speed and maybe slightly more pure power. Maybe we do to jazz whatever the hell the braves gave to albies to sign the worst long term deal for a player in baseball.

i don't think i agree with these positions. i kind of feel like you do have to sign him, and if that means you have to overpay, then so be it. if you want people to take you seriously and believe that you're not full of shit when you talk about building the organization, you need to make a statement and actually prove it to people at some point.

i don't think i agree with these positions. i kind of feel like you do have to sign him, and if that means you have to overpay, then so be it. if you want people to take you seriously and believe that you're not full of shit when you talk about building the organization, you need to make a statement and actually prove it to people at some point.

I agree with fish16 not going more than 3 years, but I’d be willing to overpay for those 3 years if necessary. We should have the money. And he might be the best free agent hitter on the market so why not?

This team has talked about cutting down on innings for the starters, but here we are in the 7th with Trevor Rogers still pitching unnecessarily with an 11-0 lead. Why does that make sense?
