April 2021 game thread

I know he’s basically facing a AAA team but you gotta be impressed by Poteet. Elieser looked great again in his rehab start. Maybe we only have one more bullpen game before we have a real staff again.

Nick, I believe it is the team's intention to utilize Neidert for that start. He is with the team. Glad to put the BP game thing to rest ... forever.

I'm not sure that I've ever seen pitchers more identical than Poteet and Pablo Lopez. Same pitches, same velocity, same movement, and for most part same usage. Only difference I see is that Poteet has the better curve and thus uses it slightly more. (And Pablo has an actual mustache.)

pablo lopez has been doing it consistently for 3-4 years now. poteet has 3-4 starts.

put more on the marlins to win the division, but odds are down to +1600 as opposed to when I first got it 20 days ago at +5000. With sandy, lopez, and Alcantara all going this series and avoiding Wheeler, we need to get 3 out of 4 in this Phillies series. We've done a great job of treading water since the rash of injuries but we're almost back to full health in the lineup in the next few weeks so its time to go on a run.

same. if he can just give us 5 quality innings every 5 days and keep us in games that's all I really want from him and that's all you can really ask of him. Anything else like he has been giving us is even better.

It just goes to show you what a bump in fastball velocity can do. We've seen it twice in the past 2 years, last year with Rogers. He had a 2-3 mph bump that turned him from a very good prospect into an elite prospect, and with Poteet his 2-3 mph has turned him from Organizational Filler to possibly legit back of the rotation potential.

starling marte starting rehab assignment in AAA tomorrow. finally we are almost back to health minus sixto. Alfaro should be back this week as well

alfaro done with rehab and back in Miami so he will be activated I'm guessing either before the game today or some time in the Phillies series.

Sixto throwing first bullpen session tomorrow, Edward Cabrera first live BP this week, Holloway is day to day. Elieser should also be back sometime very soon because he is fully built back up after the few rehab outings he dominated.

this division is up for grabs and unless the braves pitching figures itself out we are in just as good of a chance as anyone in this division.

Also, our bullpen is lights out all of a sudden and bender has been great to start his career. I really like the position we are in. Need to go on a run for 2 weeks though to start getting somewhere in the standings instead of hanging out 2-5 games under. Credit to Mattingly and the rest of the guys, we did exactly what we needed to do and hung in it while we were ridiculously beat up with injuries. under the previous ownership that would have been the end of the year due to not investing in or having quality depth.
