he went an inning and a third on Monday, didn't pitch Tuesday, and threw 12 pitches yesterday. that's a ridiculous reason for him to be completely unavailable today.

lost in everything about todays frustration was another impressive performance by rogers. Every time I see him, pablo, and sandy pitch I get more excited about the future. It's crazy that there is a possibility that our 2 best future starters haven't pitched yet this year in Sixto and Meyer. Not sure what the time frame is on Meyer but when we eventually get to the Rogers, Sixto, Sandy, Pablo and Meyer rotation it's going to be absolutely electric.

Then you choose which one you want to trade and use that guy to hopefully 1. Acquire the catcher of the future 2. re-build the bullpen. Then go and get a big bat in Free Agency. (Kris Bryant?)

Cabrera i think is going to be out for at least half the year with his injury and he was injured last year as well so my thoughts on him are kind of in a holding pattern until he actually pitches again. I also think the talk of him being better than sixto is nonsense as well. Cabrera had a great 2019 but he was pretty mediocre prior to that. I thought he was a Urena type guy until the 2019 breakout so we're gonna have to see more from him before he is put anywhere near sixto who has been pretty elite at every level.

i still say the move at C is to nab keibert ruiz or diego cartaya from them somehow. Not sure if they will even have any weaknesses to address during the year but they have to be the only team with a legit surplus at C in their organization. Will smith is a stud and Ruiz and Cartaya are both legit prospects, plus they have Austin Barnes as a solid backup.
Or maybe the cubs as well given that they have Miguel amaya as their top prospect and still have contreras.

tonight would be awesome to get a win with Castano on the mound and sandy and Pablo for games 2 and 3. Castano impressed me last year and did better than I thought he was capable of so we shall see. former marlins legend Anthony Desclafani on the mound for san fran. Always liked his potential but when you can get a guy like Mat Latos with a good track record you gotta do it. Just so happened that latos completely lost whatever ability he had and was apparently even worse in the clubhouse than he was as a starter for us. That trade is so reflective of the loria ownership years. so many horrendous (and completely unnecessary) trades

I like Toronto's catchers specifically Gabriel Moreno, if we get into a position where we can deal one of our stud pitchers, if we can somehow get him and Austin Martin from the Jays our lineup would be set for years.Last edited by Nick; 04-16-2021, 01:00 PM.

Fangraphs released their Top 46 Prospects for the Marlins:
https://blogs.fangraphs.com/top-46-p...miami-marlins/
This is a very, very strong system, and perhaps the toolsiest in baseball. The team has had a taste for hitters with rare power/speed combinations whose industry standing is impacted by their questionable approach at the plate, especially when pro scouting was spearheading the rebuilding effort a few years ago. I once thought the Marlins had acquired so many of those boom or bust type prospects that surely some of them would become stars. That may have been presumptuous. The Yelich trade is the most glaring example of this, as all of those players have struggled to hit. Even as the big club feels like it’s in the NL East mix, Chisholm is the only hitter in the lineup acquired during Miami’s prolonged period of exciting trade activity. Most of the big league Marlins are well-regarded journeyman, solid ballplayers too aggressively non-tendered as they got deeper into arbitration. Whether this will continue to be the club’s modus operandi under Kim Ng is unclear and it might change, because the team isn’t an obvious seller right now. If anything they might act as buyers.
For all of the flawed hitters, pro scouting in Miami has absolutely nailed the pitchers they’ve gotten back in deals: Pablo Lopez, Sandy Alcantara, Sixto, Neidert, and I thought Elieser Hernandez was a sweet Rule 5 pickup. Much like those magical 2003 Marlins, the young foundation of this team is its pitching. With Max Meyer on the way, that should continue.
It’s been a little harder to detect patterns on the amateur side here because they’ve picked toward the top of the last several drafts and just ended up with upper-echelon talent. But they’re willing to take high-upside gambles on high schoolers and guys with relief risk, and this isn’t an org that tends to target contact-oriented players.Last edited by Nick; 04-16-2021, 12:51 PM.

Top 6 is the 6 you would expect. A little surprising that Meyer is #1.
More Surprises:- They really like 18-year old SS Jose Salas who comes in at #7
- Like to see the love for Burdick and Neidert at 8 and 9.
- Harrison and Garrett plummet down the list to 21 and 26 respectively. (Interesting that they have Misner as their clear best CF Prospect in the organization)
- Griffin Conine a lot lower than I'd have him at 30.
- Devers and Guzman from the Stanton trade pretty far down at 25 and 43 respectively.

not sure how you have salas as 7 without ever playing a minor league game but whatever. Interesting that they have our top 6 all as a 2021 ETA. It's crazy how varied the opinions on Devers are.
also how do you have pop above conine? And garrett took a huge tumble. I think he rebounds provided his velocity returns to normal in a non pandemic season. I cant think of any other explanation for all of a sudden losing 3-4 MPH on his fastball if there was no injury.Last edited by fish16; 04-16-2021, 01:43 PM.
