Yep, same old Marlins, same old cynical Maddawg, and the reason y'all get so angry is deep down you know I serve, at the very least, grains of truth.
I shouldn't even bother feeding you, but if you hate everything about the team and ownership and whatever, why do you still bother coming here?

I mean its not a terrible take. When your big off-season additions are Duvall and Bass, it doesn't instill confidence.

Will be interesting to watch all of this unfold.

fish16’s worst case scenario prediction of 72 wins could be a pipe dream if Alfaro starts 80% of our games and we keep leaving runners on.

He is right. I’ve given the same exact criticisms to our offseason. The problem is, if the Marlins ripped off a 3 or 4 game win streak Maddawg would magically disappear. He only shows up to bitch and moan there is nothing beyond that, I really wouldn’t even call him a fan.

I can agree to an extent. But he only appears when the team does poorly to talk about how bad they are.

Though I don't like it and agree more should've been done, I also can give them some leeway after last year's reduced revenues. If they don't spend some money next offseason after benefiting from 1) new TV deal, 2) naming rights deal, and 3) a (presumable) return to normal revenue sharing and whatnot, then I'd agree there's a problem.

              Alfaro’s OPS is .481
Marte’s is .985 even with the Opening Day disaster

starling is the real deal. he's our best player since we traded the previous core. Looking back at his stats recently I was surprised how much I underrated him. He is really a great player.

Alfaro is complete fucking trash. I've been saying it since last year, he needs to go. The combo of him and no DH is killing us.

Also, as someone who was at the game last night and even got there early enough for BP, the roof needs to always be closed. I don't care how nice it is outside, the ball absolutely dies when its open. Even in BP they could barely hit the ball out.

the rotation if they stay healthy will keep them from being dreadful. It's 5 games and they have never been able to hit jack shit with the roof open. they will come around. i cant stress enough though how much not having that DH is killing not only the marlins but the entire NL. When you have alfaro then the pitchers spot it makes it almost impossible to string together big innings consistently. It's like manfred and the owners look for ways to make the sport actively worse to watch.

Same thing with the non automatic strike zone. I saw a stat that angel Hernandez got 18% of the calls wrong in the game he called last night. There's no excuse if everyone at home immediately has technology to tell what is a strike/ball that the league cant do it as well. It's absolutely maddening. I hate the fact that we even have to value pitch framing at the catcher position. Why not just get the fucking call right when we have the technology to easily do so?

These struggles with RISP are making it really hard to watch the games

Giving up a home run to a 38 year old Yadier Molina who has been horrid offensively for 5+ seasons now just shows this is going to be a rough year.
