5/5/2011 Marlins Vs A Future Teammate: Revenge of the JJ
It was also the bottom third of the order Ramp. JJ struggled through out the game against that middle of the order. It was a similar situation with Vazquez yesterday, he got burned by cheap hits but everyone agreed he should have been out before the inning began anyways.
Doesn't mean that much to me. He looked dominant in the 7th inning.
In a world where he had labored most of the day and struggled with control, and has been a bit a of an injury risk over the last few years, I can understand an argument to pull him.
I agree.
I'd rather not push him hard the first week of May.
Yeah, it'd have sucked if the 'pen blew it, but at least it's the "smart" move.
I don't recall where I read it, but starting pitchers who start an inning at or over 100 pitches have some out of this world silly ERA.
But I'm not gonna kill Edwin for it, because I can absolutely see why you'd want him in.

Yes, but you drew a parallel between today's game and yesterday's right?
I get JJ is a far superior pitcher than Vazquez but the same type of inning transpired for Vazquez yesterday giving up the same type of "bullshit" hits and people killed him for it but today it's a different story. I understand you have JJ on the mound but he really wasn't pitching all that well specifically against the people he faced that inning besides Theriot.

I did.
SP's struggle after having thrown 100 pitches to start an inning.
It's worth noting that you said you just randomly read it without providing a link (although I'm sure it's true).
It's also worth noting that not every pitcher who enters an inning having thrown 100 pitches is as good as Josh Johnson.
