    • IMPORTANT SITE UPDATE -- PLEASE READ

We are going to attempt to upgrade our vbulletin software this Monday, September 7 (Labor Day). If things go according to plan, we should be offline for a few hours and then be back online with all user accounts and posts migrated but a bare-bones theme (no colors), no plugins, etc. There's also a chance that posts and accounts migrate but some things get broken (like links, etc) and we have to fix them as time goes on.

If things don't go according to plan, we could be offline for several hours (maybe even the remainder of the day) and then be right back to where we are now as we would restore from a backup. Or, we may not be offline at all if things really go sideways.

Of course, we have no idea if any of this will solve our issues but it's our first best shot.

          • I swear Vesia was throwing 2-3 MPH harder in the minors last year.

            • You have to wonder if Mattingly considered having Alfaro bunt with no outs and men on 1B and 2B

We had a real chance to steal a win.

              - - - - - - - - - -

Game ends on a bad call by the umpire

He was 92-93 but he was all about deception which made it look 96-97. His issue right now is his control-he gets 2-1/3-1 on every count and they sit on the FB

2021 LH is Bleier/Tarp/Vesia. Let him battle thru get his confidence up. This is what they were hoping to do with SP/RP/Monte and other bats this year anyways. Play them and see. Ill take his as a #3 LHP option-he was pretty much given Tarp's spot for right now

Tarp had a 2.45 ERA until 1 bad game-when he is back u have him as the #2 LH option with Bleier getting the high leverage 7th/8th inning spot

                  • I'm definitely in Vesia's corner. In a small sample (tiny) he's been a hard luck story thus far. Some super-cheap long balls, bad b/s calls, and foolish hits like the pop up that three fielders all lost sight of last night. I like him very much.

Tonite could get very ugly with the Alcantara/Blake Snell matchup. A great cast of Ray LH bats will be problematical. Bases on balls are proving disasterous for Marlin pitchers.

                    • Tampa vs Marlins, 9 game win streak over the Marlins right now, 65-56 all time record

Tampa 1st place in AL East and 5 1/2 game lead over the vaunted Yankees....

Marlins 9-16 since the 7-1 start...where is the offensive help ? Where is the improvment ? They still trot out Brinson, Sanchez not impressive, Harrison another Brinson bust.....Soon pitchers are going to get tired of pitching their hearts out only to lose because the front office can't trade for or sign offensive talent. They are going to demand the Marlins pay a premium to retain them. The cost cutting Marlins are costing themselves money in the future or lose talent again.....

The Rays have THE REAL MODEL to follow. Sorry if you guys don't like to hear truth. Many of you are Trump supporters anyways so you already live in the Twilight Zone.

Wow, what a surprise to see you again appear after a loss.

WTF? Really? I don't care who anyone here supports, is this comment really necessary?

and I know overall it was a positive play for us, but why didn't Brinson run to first?

                          • Harold Ramirez got hurt running out a grounder. Looked pretty serious but I missed the follow-up to it.

EDIT: Left hamstring strain for Ramirez, per the team's website.

                            • Thank God no one here over-reacted after one bad start post-Covid and thought Sandy was a bum.

                              • Don't look now but Sweet Lew has hit safely in eight of his last ten games, raising his average from .087 to a robust .245 during that stretch.
