also because they arent this good. someone even brought up the run differential as it was happening. i mean the 7-1 start was fucking awesome but we were a below average team at best when fully healthy that started 7-1 without 18 of its players from its opening day lineup. at some point you have to be realistic with the expectations. the last 5 or whatever games have sucked but the fact that they have been able to go .500 without 18 of its opening day lineup ad then getting back sandy, caleb smith, rojas, cooper, alfaro, the entire bullpen. its something to look forward to rather than shit on the last 4-5 games which have obviously sucked.

with that said I bet heavily on the marlins tonight to win with Pablo on the mound even against degrom

    • Anderson needs to be batting 3rd or 4th with protection behind him.

      • Are they really bringing in Harrison as a pinch-hitter?

        • How about we just DFA Brinson, Harrison, Diaz, and Yamamoto and forget the Yelich trade ever happened? That’d be great.

          • Alvarez is fun to watch defensively.

fish16, I was the one that brought up Run Diff as it was happening.

But it doesn’t mean you don’t do EVERYTHING you can to break a SEVENTEEN YEAR playoff drought. And the FO has failed us on that particular issue.

*I am not a FO hater by any means. They’ve done a lot of things very well

Not sure I've seen a hitter in the big leagues that just has absolutely zero chance like Harrison.

                • This bullpen is a disaster. Even the non-replacements are terrible. I don't see how this team is going to compete even when the regulars come back. The good news is, they can take advantage of what should be a seller's market. They can't get rid of Villar soon enough. It's not hard to see why the Orioles didn't care about losing him. As much talent as he has, he doesn't have it upstairs.

Also, if they're sinking or swimming with Harrison, why is Brinson starting ahead of him in any game? And please explain to me pulling the one guy who's hitting to pinch hit him?

After tonight could be getting Rojas/Alfaro and 2 or 3 RP back. Sandy and others might be on trip to on "taxi squad"

                    • Game notes:

Pablo was great. Always felt he had the potential to lead the staff and he definitely does. Bad luck bloopers did him in.

Anyone else wonder why Marlin hitters didn't just sit on the 91 mph slider from deGrom? The pitch had little movement and was often center cut ... but rarely drew a swing. It seemed like they all tried to gear up for the 98 fastball that they weren't going to be able to hit anyway. If I were the batting coach, orders would have been to look for that juicy slider first pitch and every pitch. He threw a lot of them.

I know Monte has only whiffed in 50% of his plate appearances, but it sure seems like 90%.

Kinzler was never a good closer option. Can't have a closer that pitches to contact.

As to Lavarnway comment above: He actually leads the team in hitting (4-11) and has made good contact.

Continuing to play him above his head could ruin his confidence. Meanwhile, he's a black hole in the lineup, and you have a guy in Sanchez that may actually deserve a shot.
If there was a AAA this year he would be sent down. The issue that the Marlins and other teams are having is they either call up and see OR guy looks great in sim games but no clue. Most teams are taking chances with guys. U see it with Toronto and Pearson/Washington and Garcia and lots others. Marlins are holding off and only called up Monte

He cant hit. Its like pitchers who have a 000 ERA in 4 innings- it dont mean they are good pitchers

They got Kintzler as the CL to see if he could build value and then trade him(this was before the Rona) now well arent many options

Just think Pablo is #3 or #4 SP in 2021 rotation

DH on Saturday could see any combo of Leibrandt/Sandy/Urena/Mejia for those games. Remember ONLY 7 innings each and Marlins have 31 guys . They can bring like 35 guys with them and rotate arms on and off taxi squad

Again, we don't get to see these guys in the sim games, but why wouldn't they give Sanchez that chance? Harrison isn't making the most of his, and it not only might hurt his development, it is hurting the team.

Just saw that. Interesting. I wonder if that is short term like Lewin, waiting for someone to come back, or long term using either him, or one of the other starters to boost the pen.
