  • Depending on how long it takes Harold to get back, I wonder if they'll send Monty down, and give Jesus Sanchez a shot. They could use some more power in the lineup, that also doesn't strike out in most of their at bats.

Get a look at him. Already used an option and hes on 40 man so nothing to lose. Bats are totally different then Arms cause lots less options

They dont wanna call guys up to pitch 2 or 3 games. All these guys are getting DFA unless they get hurt. Probably keep Castano,Hoyt and either Alvarez or Forsythe-everyone else is gone from 40 man(Some will probably stay in system and in 60 man pool). They would love to call up Touchdown/Quezada but if they do they could lose them instead they call up to Indy guys and maybe they do OK but if not can DFA them

2021 is goal and happy to say it looks like they are sticking to it

Doubtful Monte is 25 and is the new Brinson. Gonna let him play and see if he can swim

Brinson on the other hand lost his job to Sierra and is gone in 2 weeks-just hopefully we can trade him for a PTBNL instead of DFA loss

Likely get Rojas/ some RP and maybe Alfaro back before Friday while rest the following Friday. They would love to get Sandy/Neidert/Caleb/Dugger back but not built up yet. Dont forget they can have 5 extra guys on the road trip so u could see themsome of them activated from IL and on taxi squad. 31 players again for the week trip

I wouldnt be surprised to see Brandon Leibrandt get Yamamoto's SP spot this week

      • 2021 is the goal, TJ? Funny because we had the division lead with about 25% of the season completed but we kept on Yamamotoing.

We all know that in 2021, 2022 will the the new goal.

2021 is the goal for the restart meaning thats when they project all the prospects up and ready. Would they call up a Sixto up if Sept 28 they were winning the division YEP but at this point they are just calling guys up to get thru until MLB guys back. If they had a LH vet bat to call up they probably would have instead of Lewin but they didnt

What I am saying is IF this was 8/19/2021 and they needed an arm it would be Sixto and not Yamamoto or Brandon Liebrandt. 2020 is evaluate and see who sticks(well hard to when none of them are playing)

          • Anyone heard a word about super prospect Edward Cabrera? I haven't.

My neighbor, a Phillies fan, offered me a $10 bet when the Marlins were 7-2. He said Miami would record 10 losses before they had ten wins. I accepted, albeit with trepidation that turned out to be justified.

            • what exactly was everyone thinking was going to happen when 3/5 of our rotation is out, our entire bullpen is out, and our starting C, 2b, SS, CF, RF, and DH are out? Obviously its frustrating that the top prospects arent up here but it doesn't make sense to rush them when we've clearly seen that just because a guy is a top prospect doesn't mean they will succeed from the jump. From what I've seen from sixto the guy clearly looks overweight so I don't mind them teaching him a lesson and not letting him rest on his talent and starting his clock for a temporary need.

We're 9-8 with 19 key contributors out. 19. don't get greedy and just hope the guys come back for this weekend's series and we can get a sense of normalcy again.

no, don't get greedy fans of team that was supposed to be bad anyways and lost 18 fucking players for 14 out of the 17 games so far. Every single team in the league would struggle if you take away 18 of the players from their opening day team, let alone a team like us who wasn't supposed to contend even at full strength.

At some point you gotta put your best foot forward. At some point you gotta show players around the league that you're serious, give them a reason to want to come to Miami. To me being 8-4, 9-4 with a lead in the NL East with a 60-game season with expanded playoffs, seemed to be that time. Show what you've got with your young prospects, get in the playoffs, then you can say look what we did with the replacement guys prospects, and the foundation we had already set, we got into the playoffs. Just think what we can do if we supplement that with some quality free agents. Instead of going into 2021 and hoping every single prospect works out perfectly (they won't) for us to have any chance in a 162-game season.

                    • Ideally, the virus strike on the Marlins would have been Sanchez and Cabrera time. Unfortunately, Six-ton wasn't ready to pitch and Cabrera was sidelined with a "minor" arm problem.

but that's assuming the prospects are ready and are able to contribute right away. it takes time for prospects to find their footing. so this whole talk about if they had just called their prospects up everything would have been perfect is just misguided. its pretty clear most of them are not ready nor were they expected to be with no minor league games prior to a few weeks ago. Lewin was expected to spend most of the year in AAA, Sixto was supposed to show up in shape and spend at least half the year in AAA, same with Cabrera, bleday is a year away, jazz is a year away, rogers and Garrett are a year away.

So what exactly were they supposed to do when 18 fucking guys go down at the same time and none of their prospects are truly ready? Start their clocks for no reason, watch them struggle just like the current non-prospect type guys they've called up are? If you had guys being held down who are truly ready that would be one thing, but none of the guys are ready, so its not like its a choice between prospects being called up and being successful and what we've seen the last week or so. What would have happened is you would have a team full of prospects struggling AND you've just started their service time clock.

They have done what they needed to do, we have been exactly .500 since 18 guys went down. Now most should be ready this weekend, we are still in a playoff spot, and we didn't rush prospects and start their service clock to inevitably struggle. they have done what they needed to do to get through this, now the team we were expected to have needs to come back at the top of their game and get ready to make a playoff push.

I'm not talking about calling up everybody. I'm mostly talking about calling up 1 guy. Sixto. And maybe Jesus Sanchez once we realized that Harrison and Brinson were a disaster. Sixto's inning limitations and out-of-shape issues at least in the Summer have been proved to be a load of crap. So let's see what he's got instead of having 8 games (8!) started by the likes of Yamamoto, Castano, Mejia, and Josh A. Smith.

                          • Eddy Alvarez (2-2) and Mags Sierra (3-4) and Berti (6-15) off deGrom. Aguilar and Anderson with some past success too.

                            This just in: https://twitter.com/JoeFrisaro/statu...408453/photo/1

Sierra WILL lead off. No Berti in the lineup however. Brinson will K ... I mean play.

I don't understand that from a perspective of trying to win now, or in player development. How does that do anyone any good. He's struggling badly, he needs a break. Continuing to play him above his head could ruin his confidence. Meanwhile, he's a black hole in the lineup, and you have a guy in Sanchez that may actually deserve a shot.

We can’t be good this year because we weren’t supposed to be good this year!
