Pressure is on Jazz to be an exceptional pro in order to square that trade.
Many of us who followed Gallen's minor league career thought he was a solid pitcher but he probably had #3/4 starter potential. It wouldn't be shocking if the Marlins front office thought like many of us that Gallen's first 7 starts were a bit of an outlier and he was set to regress to more of a 4 ERA pitcher. Obviously that hasn't happened, but also Gallen has just 12 starts post Marlins career so the sample size still isn't all that large.

Chisholm was always a boom or bust prospect and a top 60 one at that. There's a lot fewer B+/A shortstop prospects to find in baseball than there are solid pitchers nowadays. Even with Gallen being successful the Marlins should've done that trade 100 times out of 100. Not to mention Chisholm was successful in AA with an .877 OPS last season and still has Hanley Ramirez potential if everything develops with him.

The Gallen for Chisholm trade was one of the few times it looked like the Marlins were selling high on a player for a long term piece. In 2022 the Marlins are gonna need a 24 year old potential star shortstop more than they'd need a Zac Gallen type given the team's depth of pitchers in the majors and minors.

    • Took out Castano too late yesterday. Took out Elieser too soon today.

      How frustrating.

Sierra has that huge game on Friday, doesn't have an AB the rest of the series.

      • I think it would be great if we never see Lewis Brinson play for the Marlins (or “Giants”) ever again.

        • Moran sucks.

          Pathetic.

          • Brinson and Moran can be the first guys to go when the Covid guys come back.

            • This all goes back to taking out Elieser when he was cruising at 81 pitches.

Isn’t that because he sucks third time through the order? This is kind of what happened to him in Toronto so I’m guessing they didn’t want to repeat the same mistake.

                Brinson stinks.

                • Can't recall being more disappointed with the Marlins than these last two games.

Good and horrific from Mattingly: Getting tossed was well worth it. The umpire was vastly better with his balls and strikes after the altercation. BUT, if it's fair to hold him accountable after being tossed, how in the world do Brinson and Harrison stay in the game to face O'Day??? O'Day is extremely difficult for even experienced RH batters! Sure enough, Lewis and Monte were comical whiffs. Joyce and Sierra should have entered as pinch hitters. Not maybe ... definitely. That would have also put Joyce in LF, which would have eliminated Swanson's double.

                  • All 18 players on the IL worked out in Jupiter today. They cannot get back soon enough. There is no reason that Sierra hasn't been in the lineup the last 2 games. Maybe you can live with Brinson or Harrison in the lineup, but both at the same time has been a disaster. Hopefully Dickerson, Harold and Cooper are back this week. Also, I've seen enough of Forsythe.

                      Agreed on all counts.

Is Conley any better than Moran?

NOT all guys have passed the 2 negative tests but since some have been out almost 21 days MLB is letting them back!! 12-15 are fine with tests while others are not but they back too. Should see a few back before they leave for the road trip(mostly bats/RP) but Sandy/other SP might be longer(They are getting ready now just want them at 75 pitches or so)

Gonna be interesting to see who gets DFA when they all come back-Castano went from DFA to getting a spot/Sean Rodriguez,Forsythe,Alvarez are fighting for Isan spot

                        • Just want to see Vesia, Yimi, Neidert and Brigham reclaim their bullpen spots ASAP. Mejia would seem like a far superior option than Vincent, Schaeffer, Hoyt, Moran. The RHP/LHP fellow is fun to watch - welcome entertainment.

Sierra has earned the CF job vs RHP. If winning is the objective, spots should be earned on merit.

                          • ya the bullpen held their own for a couple days but its a huge struggle now. that and the lineup. SP's have surprisingly held their own for a while. But we really need rojas, Dickerson, alfaro, and ramirez and cooper back.

                            • I like tonight's lineup. Very best we can do with what we have. My concern is Yamamoto's hanging curve and bouncing change.

How interesting. No way the FO would lie about Sixto's current status would they?
