that's been the thing that the league has shown reluctance to change that makes 0 sense to me. the "history of the game" bullshit argument that essentially just says umps will make mistakes that impact games and we're ok with that is ridiculous. it makes no sense when the change makes the game better and eliminates controversy that are inevitable with umps calling games. baseball's refusal to adapt and change with the times will be the death of it one day.

aguilar playing first with ankle weights out there or what? This is a game where the defense has not helped lopez out much at all.

looks like the few games where they played the awful orioles with all the adrenaline of having 18 guys out at once is wearing off. need some of our main guys back ASAP before this hot start gets erased quickly. can only pitch a new starter every game for so long before that impact is seen.

the lineup construction and bullpen usage has been questionable at best. I'd just go Dickerson and Anderson at the top, then villar in the 3 spot, aguilar cleanup, then when everything is healthy again go with a lineup of Rojas, Dickerson, Anderson, Aguilar/Cooper, Villar, Cervelli/Alfaro, Monte/whoever the 3rd OF is, and then whoever is playing 2b

i had very low expectations for aguilar but the dude has been enormous with everyone gone. the guy brings something no one else in the lineup can with that power. that was a huge hr with degrom likely done after this inning

getting degrom out of the game after 5 and getting 2 runs off of him is just about as good as you can ask for coming into the game. that 2nd inning blown potential threat was a huge missed opportunity though

Villar had a .339 OBP last year. I think hes in the right spot. Just needs to perform like he did last year.

and he can steal bases and create havoc on the basepaths (although he needs to get the baserunning brain farts out of here). To me the bigger issue has been the #2 spot. it seems like Mattingly continues to insist on that "traditional" #2 spot in the order type player rather than just getting the best hitters the most ab's. put Dickerson or Anderson in there and make your lineup more dangerous. Villar, Dickerson, Anderson, Aguilar, Rojas is a lot more effective to me.
