  • Anxious to see Castano. He's gradually improved and could be a late-blooming lefty.

As to pitchers on the IL, I'd be good with Neidert, Yimi, and Vesia returning. Ramirez, Cooper and Rojas back as regulars.

    • If it is Castano. That would be 9 different starters in the first 9 games for the Marlins. That shit is unreal.

This is all going to end, unfortunately (Run Differential ugh), but I’m really enjoying the ride. This season has been so much more fun so far than I had anticipated. And I’m getting to enjoy it with with my two young sons who have suffered with the rest of us as Marlins fans through the Loria disaster.
It will probably end, but I'm not sure we can cite run differential. Eventually this team is going to get its better players back. Had those guys played against Baltimore, the run differential could have looked very different.

I said before the season that this team would be better than people thought, and you never know in a 60-game season. If the starting pitching, when healthy, is as solid as we think they can be, and the bullpen can be anything close to what we've seen, they could make a legitimate playoff run. Remember, with the new format, you only need to get 2nd in your division to guarantee a spot. With every NL East team save for the Braves below .500 with already 10% of the season done, who knows.

90% of the guys on this forum knew that this team would be better than people thought. We know the lolmarlins narrative is weak.

We will soon find out if our “better” players are actually better.

Exhibit A will be Alfaro coming back.

Gonna be tough for Alfaro to be better than Cervelli's been so far, but having both Cervelli and Alfaro will be huge.

I think it's safe to say, we're not going to be able to keep winning the way we are deeper in the season. With these bullpen games where we use 5 or 6 arms a game. It's important we get our starters back as soon as possible. The bright side is, through this whole Covid fiasco, we may have turned the bullpen from a weakness to a strength. Kintzler, Boxberger, Bleier, Vincent, Shafer, Morin/Hoyt, Tarpley, Vesia, Yimi is all of a sudden a pretty good bullpen. I think it's important to prepare the stud arms like Sixto, Cabrera and Meyer for a stretch run, because they may eventually needed, getting the rotation into it's optimal form IMO is the key to sustaining things. We're also going to eventually need production from CF and RF, because we haven't got much. Maybe Sierra is actually establishing himself as the 4th OF everyone thought he could be, but Brinson and Harrison look pretty hopeless. Give Jesus Sanchez a shot, and hell maybe you even make a trade to acquire a CF. Getting Rojas back will be huge and hopefully he can pick up where he left off. Slot him in the 2 hole, the offense and the lineup is looking not bad.

Optimal Roster for the last 30 games

            Lineup:

            1. Villar - 2B
            2. Rojas - SS
            3. Dickerson - LF
            4. Anderson - 3B
            5. Aguilar - 1B/DH
            6. Jesus Sanchez - RF
            7. Alfaro - C/DH
            8. Cervelli - DH/1B/C
            9. Harrison/Trade - CF

            Rotation

            1. Sandy
            2. Pablo
            3. Smith
            4. Neidert/Elieser
            5. Stud Prospect - Sixto/Cabrera/Meyer

            Bullpen

            Kintzler
            Boxberger
            Bleier
            Yimi
            Elieser/Neidert
            Vesia
            Vincent
            Hoyt/Shafer/Morin/Tarpley

Maybe even put Meyer in the bullpen. All I heard about him before the draft was that you could put him in a major league bullpen right now and he'd be a shutdown reliever

            Bench

            Sierra
            Berti
            Wallach
            Joyce

            • Maybe a Starling Marte as a CF trade target?

Are you just assuming Cooper and Ramirez never come back?

No. You could replace Sierra with either of them. If Cervelli's numbers fall off a cliff. Then have him go back to just backup C get rid of Wallach and that opens a spot for one of them. Maybe even a Cooper/Joyce platoon at DH. If Jesus Sanchez shows he's not ready. That's Harold's spot. Just would like to see us take a chance on one of our higher upside prospects before the season is out.

Did they? I remember a lot of talk about being at the top of the draft again, and already looking to sell players before the season even started.

By tj. Not that I thought we were going to be a threat to make the playoffs in a regular season, but I thought we'd be around 70 wins.

                      • Has anyone hit as many hard hit balls for outs as Brinson has in his time in the big leagues?

                        • Well, hopefully we can score some runs and come back. Castano probably shouldn’t be in the big leagues but he’s taking one for the team. I wonder what the issue with Sixto is that he can’t be with us tonight.

                          • Castano is not putting your best foot forward.

                              • Villar ruined a chance at a big inning for us in the 5th swinging on the 3-0 count.
