Unadulterated homerism makes no sense to me. I hope Alcantara wins every start the rest of his career. I squirm a bit when his All Star appearance last season is mentioned, possibly because no pitcher with a near 5 ERA has ever been named to an All Star team previously (that was his first half ERA). As the rule goes, every team has to have an All Star. Personally, I think the All Star recognition helped his confidence dramatically, spurring a strong second half. I definitely think he belongs in the Marlin rotation. If he can keep the walks under control, he'll be fine. Crowning him as a future star at this point seems extremely premature. As I have pointed out, his K/W ratio has to improve a lot.

Am I a Jesus Aguilar hater because I would prefer to see him bat 6th or 7th? Or not be with the Marlins at all?
Am I an Isan Diaz hater because I see that he is overmatched in the majors right now?
Am I a Lewis Brinson hater because I think he should be playing in Japan?
No, I'm a Marlin lover ... and am therefore more critical of my team's players than any others.

The fact that that was his ERA at the All-Star Break yet he finished the season with an ERA under 4 shows improvement.

Last night, he was really good.

He is not even 25 years old yet. How do we know he’ll never be better than a Luke Weaver yet? Pitchers get better all the time. Alcantara has good stuff. Last night was interesting. He threw his changeup a lot more and got good results. 7 K’s, 2 BB’s in 6.2 innings.

I don’t know if he’s an ace long-term, but I don’t see a problem with having him in the future rotation.

Alcantara hasn’t been nearly as bad as Brinson, Diaz, etc. to warrant the same criticism. He’s already proven he belongs in the big leagues at least which is more than we can say for Brinson and Diaz right now, especially Brinson.

What are you saying here? Sandy will never put up the numbers that Luke Weaver did last season ... a 2.94 ERA that was about ninth among all MLB starters. A 1.07 WHIP. Exactly how were you wrong about Flaherty OR Weaver?

In the "That's Unusual" category, there were two games last night in which individual players had three hits ... that were the only hits for their respective teams. David Dahl for CO at Texas and Orlando Arcia for MILW at Cubs.
I love you just casually neglecting to mention that weaver only pitched 64 innings last year and put up numbers the year before that were pretty awful

Alcantara has been better than Weaver in pretty much every conceivable way so far if you compare their major league careers, and he's a year younger.

I don't think Caleb will do well today. He's the only one we haven't seen pitching yet.

Jordan Holloway making the 30-Man has got to be one of the most baffling moves I've seen. Why not Jorge Guzman, hes pretty much a more successful further along version of Holloway.

that was a huge strikeout. if caleb can limit the damage and we can get to our bullpen that would be huge. he just doesnt have control today

Caleb's stuff looks good, his control is just all over the place. Hopefully he can houdini his way through one more inning and then they can go to Neidert.

I didn't know Neidert made the main roster. That's awesome. When healthy he's a future regular major league rotation guy...I still don't know the extent that the previous injuries have limited his skills.

Based on his performance at the end of last season and the Fall League he seemed to be completely healthy.

If that's the case he's always had #2 starter stuff in the minors. That's a big plus for the Marlins. Easing him into the majors in a long reliever role isn't a bad idea either.
