      • Be interesting to see if they call up the young kids or sign vets. FO is split right now

        Rona IL

        Urena
        Cooper-(Brinson)
        Harold
        Alfaro- Lavarnway(Taxi)
        Brinson-(Coming back)
        Joyce
        Banfield-(Minors)

They have 3 OPEN spots and can add whoever they want however the problem comes in if the guy isnt on the 40 man roster because when these guys come back u gotta DFA guys

        Favorites right now are Monte/Snider/Yamamoto

Ya but his issue is he doesnt have that time. If he looks this bad when guys are coming back he is probably off the 40 man

Only reason Holloway is up is because he is on the 40 man roster. They want to get a look at him before they say bye and add a Northcraft/Vincent.U guys are 1000% right he isn't ready

Miami is in a weird position because they dont wanna blow guys control by playing them in 10 games however most of their 40 man is very young guys so they might have to. 2021 has been the target date and still is in the FO mind

Wouldn't calling up Snider require a 40 man move? Also, hopefully there is nobody else that tests positive. According to all reports, they are in Philadelphia awaiting results this morning.

Service time shouldn't be a huge deal with Harrison. He is almost 25 and we have a ton of OF prospects. The time is now to see if he can be a MLB player.

No anyone put on the Rona IL is off the 40 man roster so u can add a Snider/Northcraft/Max Meyer per say. The issue is what do u do when these guys are cleared? If u add 5 guys NOT on the 40 man then when these guys are better u gotta DFA 5 guys

Ya most young guys are ready the dilemma is do u call up a Sixto,Cabrera,Sanchez or Lewin to play 10 games and burn a year of control OR do u sign a Hanley/Jason Vargas type let them play 5-10 games then DFA

The fact that he is 25 makes it even more important possibly to keep him down for just 3 days to get an extra year of team control. Him becoming a free agent at 32 rather than 31 could prove huge in whether we re-sign him down the road and how much that costs. That’s not a huge difference in age but obviously every year older will drive down his 2nd contract. It is beyond shortsighted to bring him up for 3 games against the worst team in the league in the first week of the season rather than just keep him down for 3 days and get a full extra year of team control in his theoretical prime. Even if we have a surplus we could still use monte as a trade chip down the line and the extra year of team control would help in that aspect as well.

I wouldn’t care if it’s Jesus Sanchez cause they would send him back down in a few weeks and we’d get the 3 days back that way but monte is coming up to stay. Wait the 3 days and keep the big picture in mind while not really hurting your chances of winning the next 3 days. It’s a no brainer

Will be interesting if they are allowed to field an entire team for Jupiter complex for tonight’s game if they can’t make it back in time.

the flight was cancelled because they are awaiting results for the entire team to try to prevent another situation like alfaro where he likely traveled on the team plane to atlanta with COVID. the results should come back this morning and they will fly back later this morning.

I agree with you on the season not lasting though. they need to both test every player every day and also use tests that get results back either instantly or within 24 hours. their current system makes 0 sense for a sport not playing in a bubble like the NBA. What i do think they need to do is keep the 30 man roster for the entire year and possibly even bump that up to maybe 32 or even 35-40. this current system however is so poorly thought out and its execution seems to be even worse.

Based on the potential numbers I am hearing it could be difficult for the club to play tonight. We would be looking at the majority of their camp in Jupiter having to drive South to Miami and take the field. Ongoing discussions about this. Nothing confirmed yet.
manfred is a moron. the guy has got to go. it took 3 fucking games for his stupid plan to bite them in the ass.

and our charter home from philly this morning has been cancelled. covid likely running rampant through the clubhouse. tonights game id assume will be postponed and i doubt the season continues for much longer.

also, before i hear one more time that they are top notch athletes and that they are unlikely to die look no further than eduardo rodriguez on the red sox. still alive but now has a potential heart condition related to covid. so before people continue to say the choices are either being perfectly fine or death, read up on the effects of this virus on people for long after the virus has left their system.

Eight more players and two coaches with the Miami Marlins have tested positive for COVID-19, as an outbreak has spread throughout their clubhouse and brought the total of cases in recent days to at least 14, sources familiar with the situation tell me and

game tonight cancelled. i cant imagine the entire year goes on for much longer. this was entirely predictable as ive been saying for weeks. mlb leadership is a complete failure.

on the bright side we will have finished above .500 for the first time since what, '09? Jeter with a very quick turnaround for the franchise.

                  • Of course this would happen to the Marlins. When we were all fighthing for who was the the greedy party I said "what happened if someone gets it? We quarentine the whole team?" We pretty much know now.

This was why the players should've been paid every penny. Like I said, the players would be ones travelling and the owners are staying home making $$$

                    • Yeah this was VERY clearly always going to happen this season, but it fucking figures it would happen to the Marlins.

Its weird how everyone tested negative in the three weeks leading up to the Braves series. Possible plane/bus/hotel contamination?

it's not surprising though being from the epicenter in miami and then traveling with awful precautions being put in place by baseball. this is such a collassal failure of leadership by manfred and whoever decided the protocols its stupid. this was never going to work without a bubble with no daily testing and instant results.

Also its not like were the only team with this happening. bunch of players have tested positive including stars

i cant imagine any games get played tonight. especially yankees at philly in the clubhouse we were just at.

Why in the fuck did baseball let the game get played yesterday? If 8 more players tested positive how many played yesterday? It had to have been at minimum 4-5. just inexcusable ineptitude by baseball

Waiting to hear if the 2020 MLB season has been cancelled. Nothing definitive yet. “In jeopardy” seems to be the most texted term to me in the last 30 minutes.

Lol, it would be so fitting that we cancel the season because of the Marlins. This is insane. We had 4 players tested positive on FRIDAY tests and we still played yesterday.

The Marlins are gonna get so much hate for years to come.

this has nothing to do with the marlins, give me a break. this is squarely on mlb and their god awful testing plan if they werent gonna be in a bubble. they had an awful and poorly planned testing protocol that made this inevitable. that and our federal and state leadership who prioritized reopening the economy before actually getting th virus under control like every other country managed to do as if the economy could ever become normal again without getting the virus under control. this is a complete and utter leadership failure on every level.
