It is pretty clear that they are going to start the season with Dickerson/Villar/Harold in the OF with Cooper/Aguilar at 1B/DH. That would seemingly open a path for Lewin to make the team being a LH bat.
Very likely he does at 1B/DH
Main issue right now is they need 3 spots on the 40 man roster for Box/another RP(Northcraft/Vincent?)/Vesia. NO clue where the hell they are getting them however-well u can trade Conley to Cubs or whoever and bring Vesia up and 45 day Brinson?
45 Day Brinson-Harrison gets his ML spot and u add Box
Trade Conley-Vesia
Trade Joyce-Vincent
They have let teams know they are open for business-Caleb/Villar/Urena/Cooper/Dickerson/Joyce/Kintzler/other RP. Everyone but Villar they don't expect here in the future

Best news is they seem to have told the young guys they are gonna be RP going foward
Holloway/Guzman/Yamamoto/Sharp/Elieser and Dugger LR or Spot Starters
No more of them having no clue what the hell is going on
2021 SP(40 man)
Sandy
Sixto
Pablo
Caleb
Garrett
Meyer
Cabrera
Neidert
Mejia
Rogers
10 SP and 2 Spot Starters for 5 spotsLast edited by tjfla; 07-18-2020, 07:51 AM.

Seems as though Dickerson/Villar/Harold will start in the OF, with Cooper and Aguilar splitting 1B and DH. I wonder if Lewin still has a shot at making the team to split time with them.

If I were holding the reins, my opening day lineup would look like this:
Villar at 2B. Yep, everbody has Isan Diaz there under the pretext that he killed AAA. Well guess what. Everybody at New Orleans killed AAA last year. Austin Dean hit better than Diaz. Where's he? Brinson hit well there ... and with power. Where's he .... even if healthy? It's not like Diaz has defense as an attribute. He was very shaky out there. He ought to be in Jupiter working on his game.
Anderson at 3B, fine. However, I sure wouldn't be putting a five year, $75 million contract in front of him.
Dickerson in LF, sure. He's the team's top hitter and you have to try to win.
Lewin Diaz at 1B for me. Only way he's going to really develop this season. Aguilar could have been cut in April with a small payment, as I recall. I don't think he's better offensively than Lewin.
CF has to be Monte. It's the development issue again, but he's the team's best defender in the OF and a better base-stealing threat than Sierra, who should be released. If Monte whiffs 35% of the time, he still brings more to the table than Isan, the guy he is fundamentally replacing.
I'd work Jesus Sanchez into a spot as well. A platoon with Ramirez in RF would be fine.
Rojas is fine at SS this season, but I'd trade him if a contender has an emergency need for him. Jazz is our SS of the future.
Catching is a weakness ... to me at least. Alfaro is far from clutch with the bat and a Little Leaguer when it comes to blocking pitches. Cervelli is washed. Tyler Heineman (who the Marlins just plain dropped), is at the top of the SF Giants depth chart to start this season.
Cooper at DH is fine. And I definitely want Berti and Eddy Alvarez as reserves.
Fangraphs has a ranking of starting pitchers up. Alcantara, Smith, Lopez are all in the sixties to seventies, or basically mid-rotation types. Mediocrity seems like their ceiling to me, but you never know. Urena seems to fit right with them. I'd rather go with E. Cabrera than Elieser or Neidert or Yamamoto for the fifth spot.
The bullpen could possibly be good, but is most likely middle of the pack. I don't see anything horrible happening there.
Trades should be a focal consideration. In my mind, Daulton Varsho (catcher with Arizona organization) and Vidal Brujan (2B with Tampa org) are great targetsLast edited by Lee Stone; 07-21-2020, 11:45 AM.

I'm fairly certain it won't be too long until Monte is up this year.

As for Sierra, he’s almost certainly not long for this team. He’s a decent fielder, and very fast, but does anyone think he has much of a chance even to be a replacement level player? Would anyone lose any sleep over another team claiming him?
Again, I’m not saying they’re making the wrong moves. I’m just saying the line we were fed about service time not mattering, and going for it with the best roster, wasn’t true.

Service Time and the fact we are pretty much punting on the season. FO saying all right stuff in public but they dont expect a good season with the schedule and all
He will be up eventually with either Villar traded or an OF hurt. Soon as up he gonna get tons of AB's
People crap on Sierra and Brinson but reality is they are both perfect 4th OF on any team. If we DFA either of them they are gone and FO dont really wanna just lose guys for nothing
