The guy I'm a bit sorry for is Burdick. In what universe do you choose Encarnacion or Bleday over Burdick? In addition to being equal OR BETTER with the bat, Burdick is a better all around player. Encarnacion can't play adequate OF defense and can't run. Folks don't say anything about Bleday because, frankly, he came up short of impressing anybody at Jupiter last season.

    Enjoy.
I like Mejia but you're flat out wrong here. He hasn't pitched above High-A Jupiter, he'll be 24 next spring. I could see him getting dropped off the 40 through no fault of his own. He'll be 24 and pitched 23 innings above low A-Ball, I know that means nothing to you, but it means something to everyone else, and most importantly evaluators.

Also, you know I love Burdick, I've been tooting that horn since the day we drafted him, but in every single universe do you choose Bleday over Burdick. How many top prospects list have you seen with Burdick over Bleday? hmm that's weird every single evaluator chooses Bleday over Burdick right now. Stop being willfully ignorant with your bias when it comes to Bleday. 140 mediocre ABs in the toughest hitting league in the minors, while being the only hitter in his draft pushed immediately to High-A isn't going to make or break him.

Folks don't say anything about Bleday except that he's a consensus Top 50 prospect in baseball according to pretty much everyone.

You think that Mejia is the 3rd best pitching prospect in the organization/on the same level as Sixto/Cabrera? Really?

I am basing that merely on the actual results he achieved.

Basically if we signed Dan Straily and for some reason stuck him in Clinton and he pitched all season there with a sub 1 ERA he would be Lee's top prospect.

Thatโ€™s not solely what you should base it on.

Bleday sure looks like Colin Moran to me ... another top collegiate hitter back in 2013. Do you seriously think that if Burdick and Bleday had both played in Clinton or Jupiter ... that Bleday would have shown himself to be the better hitter?

Absolutely I do. Bleday was the better hitter at the Cape Cod League in 2018. They had similar collegiate numbers despite the fact that Bleday played in the #1 league in College Baseball in the SEC, while Burdick played in the Horizon League. Name some other Horizon League teams, without looking it up. Look at what a guy like Jerar Encarnacion did in 2019 what happened to his numbers when he went from Clinton to Jupiter. Now is it possible that Burdick could've ended up with better numbers than Bleday hypothetically Bleday would've at Clinton sure, but again we're talking about at least for Bleday less than 150 ABs, anything can happen in that small a sample size. I know sample size is another term that means nothing to you, but it's relevant here.

At this point it’s becoming increasingly clear Monte’ will be popping baseballs for the Marlins Opening Day at Philadelphia.
It's exciting to see one of their top prospects up, but if they're going to bring him up, why not wait the 5 days to preserve service time? Also, if they're bringing him up, I would hope that means he'll be in the lineup every day, not sitting behind Ramirez.

                          • Random thought, but for the life of me I can't understand why the Marlins spring training caps and jerseys aren't their permanent, or at the very least alternate, ones. They are so much better than the regular season ones.

I think we've all thought that all along.
