Also, I think there's zero chance they have minor league games without having major league games. It's sounding as if MiLB may not happen at all, which sucks especially for rebuilding teams like us.
Owners have OK'd a plan that would have the season re-start on July 4th weekend.
Also part of the plan is implementation of universal DH. Not that I'm against it, but also not sure what purpose it serves or why it's deemed necessary in this particular situation.

And now comes a fight with the union about how to make this work. I just hope that both sides realize that they need to do whatever they can to play the season. There are only bad options, but they both have a lot of incentive to make this work. The public, with 30 million unemployed, likely will have no stomach for seeing millionaires and billionaires fight about how much they get paid. Just hammer out a deal.

I guess the argument is to limit potential for pitcher injuries and also get another player on the roster with short training camps coming.

there wont be a season and it damn sure wont be starting in july. were looking at august 1 in a best case scenario. this complete shit show in terms of getting tests to the level needed to get back to work and normal life will ruin any shot of that. The dip shit in the white house seems to think just ignoring the issue and acting like everything is fine will help him but his scientific ignorance and his inabilty to think of anything other than how things effect him will force sports to be cancelled for far longer than would normally be necessary with a normal functioning adult making these important decisions. They will have a hugely difficult time getting the number of tests needed even in a normal response to this issue, let alone working out the details of how players get paid in a shortened season and keeping the thousands of other workers involved in a baseball game safe. Let alone how misguided it is to be worried about gettting the hundreds of thousands of tests necessary to start these sports leagues when we cant get enough tests for normal people to simply go back to work safely.

You up for a friendly ban bet that there will be a season?
I mean, we have a bunch of different sports, Racing, UFC, Golf etc. Opening up before July, Korean Baseball's been going on for over a week now, NPB starting up in June, the owners just put forth a plan saying they want to start back up in July, I'm not seeing July as some far-fetched goal at this point.

those are all individual sports. And UFC probably shouldnt be doing what they are doing anyways. Also, Korean baseball was able to open because they nailed the testing aspect of getting back to normal by getting out in front of everything from the start rather than having public health officials cater to a moron president's narcissism who would rather act like everything is normal a few months ago than take the testing seriously from the start. We had our first case on the exact same day as south korea and they are in remarkably better shape because their current government isnt incompetent and corrupt like ours is. If July 1 is the start date they will need 2.5-3 weeks of spring training 2. That means we must have the strategy and the sheer number of tests in place by the beginning of june. We don't have nearly enough testing to get normal people back to work let alone the entire baseball community (players, coaches, staff, front office, stadium workers, etc) to be tested literally every single day like it would need to be to pull this off.
Just checking cause you said “there won’t be a season”.
and i dont think there will be at this point. i dont feel the need to make a bet about it. you've consistently said july 1 so why dont you make a bet about that?

I asked four players, some of them Union reps, the same question yesterday: Can you picture a scenario under which you would agree to reduced salaries for this season? The responses ...

I’m good with a 2 week ban bet.
If MLB plays before the end of July you take a vacation and if they don’t I take one

Donald Trump isn't going to be the deciding factor on whether the league starts back up in July. Somehow the billion dollar organization that is the MLB will find a way to get the necessary testing.

$$$ will definitely stop the league from starting up way before a lack of testing.
That being said, if it does. That's just an awful look for both sides, and would IMO be a stain on the game worse than the '94 strike.

trump's administration will be however if they continue not to test on a scale that will enable us to get back to normal. I dont think you seem to understand just how incompetent and lacking the testing has been since this started and how inadequate it continues to be. It is the biggest reason we are still dealing with this shit as seriously as we are today. it's why south korea and other countries with competent leaders are way ahead of us and already getting back to normal. We are nowhere near where we need to be to get back to normal and trying to start getting back to normal prior to when it is safe to do so is just asking for this to linger significantly longer than it needs to.
